The following is from the Walnut Creek Police Department:
The month of April is National 911 Education Month and here at WCPD we thought we could share some tips and important highlights on what to expect if you ever need to dial 911. You will be asked if you need police, fire or medical. Police dispatchers are the first answering point on a 911 line, so if you need medical or fire we will need to transfer you to the fire department dispatchers who can start you an ambulance and/or firefighters. Your location is very important! Help may be delayed without knowing exactly where you are, so it is extremely important to find an address or know the street and cross street. Focus on the dispatchers questions. There can be a lot of chaos or confusion going on around you, but keeping your focus will help the dispatcher ask the questions they need to not only keep you safe but the officers responding as well.

#1 Tip: STAY OUT OF OAKLAND.
