The Water Cooler – Would/Could You Ever Live In A Micro-House?

The “Water Cooler” is a feature on Claycord.com where we ask you a question or provide a topic, and you talk about it. The “Water Cooler” will be up Monday-Friday at noon.

Today’s question:

If someone offered you a micro-house (maximum of 400-square-feet), for free, in an area with little to no crime, do you think you could live in it for the rest of your life?

Would I want to? – no …… could I if I had to? sure …there can be far worse

Yes since someone pay for it.

If I had no where else to live, of course. Housing is the most expensive part of living. To get it for free could enable you to get your life back on track.

Yup, could do it.
As long as it has a 7,000 foot shop next to it
for my projects.

No thank you! I gave up on confined living spaces when I left the Submarine Service.

If I had nowhere else to live yes but by necessity not want.

Nope. I want and need space.

I lived in a studio apartment probably about 12×30. It was no problem. Before they tell me I have to take in other folks because I’m living alone in a (smallish) 4 bedroom house I might go looking for a micro home of sorts.

I would have no reason to. I would be suspicious of someone offering this cell to me to live in for free, though, something disturbing about this concept. Nothing is free, there would be some underlying goal behind such an offer, and I suspect it would not work out so well.

No gun safes, no Atticus.

If I’m by myself, yes.
Ive even thought about buying a caboose and living

Easily. As long as it was not a 15 minute city thing.

” rest of your life” is the scary statement. I’ll be willing to give it a try. I’ll be honest I’m finding I don’t need a big house anymore being at retirement age I’d be happy going much smaller. I like to be outdoors anyway so that would be an important part to have a yard and nature.

Sure, less housework.

A couple of years ago I stayed in 300 sq ft “cabin” in Italy for 10 days, with my girl.
I could only do this if I had an coverd outdoor area for dining and a beach within 10 min walk.
If I was solo I could make it work. But it would suck
It also helped that we had a large pool and restaurant 1 min walk from our cabin.

That would be big enough for my shop, or a hotel room in Europe. Long term, the house would need to be at least 1,500 square feet. It would also need at least 1/4 acre of land.
