PG&E is working to restore power to 65 customers in the Turtle Creek area of Concord.
Their power has been out since Thursday at 6 a.m.
PG&E told Claycord.com “The cause of the outage is equipment failure (faulty transformer and primary cable). Crews have located and are excavating the primary in order to safely complete repairs. At this time, 65 customers are affected by the outage, and we continue to safely restore power. In addition, we are working to provide temporary generation to impacted customers. We expect power to be fully restored later this afternoon. I should also mention, the damaged primary cable is underground, which is why we are excavating.”
I hope the Trump administration will look into the history of PG&E. Smacks of hucksterism of the old west. PG&E should have been broken up into several non-profit municipal public utilities. But that crime family is too powerful to allow it to happen. And now people have been receiving higher than ever utility bills from PG&E while they freeze in their homes.
.
Mind you, I’m not criticizing the work of the crews like in this situation though I’m sure they are aware they are working for a problematic company.
…. and “working to provide temporary generation to affected customers” …. well did they? or is it still an “intention””
“Crews have located and are excavating the primary in order to safely complete repairs.”
That is the downside of putting the power lines underground. It’s much harder to find and then repair faults. Had they used overhead lines in that neighborhood then faults show up as hot spots which can be instantly detected using an infrared camera. PG&E typically flies a helicopter along the path of the lines scanning with a camera to find the hot spots. Repairing overhead lines and equipment is also very easy and is a routine matter for the high voltage crews.
