UPDATE: ALERT: Public Health Advisory Issued For Parts Of Martinez And Pacheco Due To Possible Fire, Flaring At Refinery

ConFire is responding to a possible commercial structure fire on the refinery property near Pacheco Blvd and Shell Ave, in Martinez. Multiple reports of black smoke and flaring seen. Please avoid the area and shelter in place if nearby.

UPDATE: The incident commander has called for a second alarm. Shell Ave and Marina Vista Ave are being closed in the area. One individual, a member of refinery staff, is being transported by ambulance. We’re also now hearing that multiple people in the area, heard two explosions immediately prior to the large smoke plume.

stop using plastic… live in a cave. It’s not like they want these things to happen…it costs them money.
Have a genius idea!!! don’t live next to a refinery.

I got some footage as well. By awful coincidence, the music I happened to be listening to at the time was titled “Spirit of the Flame.”

Over 2 hours later and black smoke is still pouring out of the refinery

Praying for the workers involved 🙏🏻 This could get worse

Passed by. One of the refinery employees not on the clock was out there yelling at people watching “look at this guy taking pictures, how could you do that, ect,ect”. Seemed possibly intoxicated or just an idiot. With workers like that im not surpised at all this happened.
