UPDATE: Bomb Squad On Scene In Pleasant Hill To Handle “Historical Military Ordnance”

PUBLIC ADVISORY – PHPD, WCPD, CONFIRE and Air Force EOD (Bomb Squad) from Travis AFB are at a residence on the 1700 block of Shirley Drive in Pleasant Hill. There is NO threat to the general public and NO active criminal investigation. Bomb Squad on scene to asses and ensure safe handling of any potential historical military ordnance found inside of a residence.

UPDATE: The Pleasant Hill Police Department is investigating an incident where live antique military ordinance was found in a residence.

On January 22, 2025 at about 1:27 p.m., Pleasant Hill Police officers were called to a residence in the 1700 block of Shirley Drive, after a person reported finding a box containing antique unexploded military ordinance and immediately notified police.

The Walnut Creek Police Department’s Bomb Squad and personnel from the United States Air Force Explosive Ordinance Disposal Team responded to assist in the safe removal and disposal of the materials.

As of 6 p.m., all explosives were removed, and the scene is clear.

There is no active criminal investigation associated with this matter.

Historic military ordinance. I can tell you from personal experience
that’s not what the ATF calls it. 🫣
