King tides have led to flooding at the Martinez Marina and surrounding area. North Court Street is closed at Tarantino Drive, and Tarantino Drive is also closed. Please do not drive or park in the area. South-bound lanes are open only to allow for vehicles to leave the area and for emergency access. These roads are anticipated to be closed until sometime Monday, please do not cross the barriers.
King Tides Lead To Flooding At The Martinez Marina
previous post
The water at the marina is a mix of saltwater from the bay, and freshwater from the delta. Any amount of salt is not good for a car, it will rapidly cause corrosion and rust. Anybody that has their car parked in the area of the flood, should thoroughly wash the undercarriage.
Salt can accumulate in tiny crevices and may go unnoticed until it’s too late. A car
wash that has an undercarriage spray is a good option to wash away the salt. If any
salt water leaks into the interior, clean and dry the carpeting, and any of the upholstery
that may have gotten wet to help prevent mildew from forming. In some cases, the
carpeting will need to be lifted in order to clean the floorboard.
You gotta wonder.. who parks there with prior warnings NOT to because King tide flooding was expected yet there they are and that lot was empty before it flooded. Darwin award!
