I posted on the original but it’s gone … I’ll try again …. anybody know if the pedestrian was on the road or did the vehicle jump the curb and strike the pedestrian on the sidewalk? On another CC website on FB a reader said they say a person dressed in all black walking there around 6:15Am… the medical emergency was called in at 6:28am per PulsePoint

In or out of a crosswalk?

I cannot feel sorry for someone who drives recklessly and endangers themselves and others, period! (if this was the case).
If I were to see an accident due to someone driving recklessly, I will NOT stop to help.
People need to better manage their time and to stop speeding.

What are you actually trying to say here? Did anyone say it was a reckless driver, or maybe an housed person walking around in a stupor? No information, and judgement made by you. Poor form or maybe just poor judgement.

and this is where humanity dies.

I left Clayton at 0600 this morning and noticed a person walking on the right shoulder of YVR towards Oak Grove, just past Cowell, which would have been around 0610. I thought it was unusual at the time, but was pleased that the traffic was light.

RIP whoever you are.

Dang ClayDen, that’s unsettling.
I once predicted a small plane crash right before it happened.
It was sketchy from the get go, not like I’m prescient.
Walking shouldn’t be a death sentence , even if you’re doing it wrong.
Agree on the RIP.

People driving over 65mph every day all day

It’s not the speed that kills, it’s the stupidity of the unskilled driver.

I heard the sirens yesterday morning. People need to slow down. I’m on Ygnacio in the mornings, and every single day people are speeding down the road between 5am and 6am. They go even faster if they’re in the turning lane to go onto Oak Grove. It’s as if rules of the road don’t apply to them. And speaking of the turning lane to go to Oak Grove road from Ygnacio– every day, every single day, I see someone in the turning lane, cut back into the lane for Ygnacio when they get near the stop lights. It’s dangerous. I don’t understand why you can’t simply drive normal and wait behind cars like the rest of us if you’re planning to remain on Ygnacio. Is cutting in front of other cars that necessary?

I frequently see people walking in the street over the hill on YVR. one guy I honked at and he shook his fist at me. Wears a hat with a flap over the neck. Used to make me mad but now my kids and I just call him “walks in the middle of the street guy” I’m really sad someone got dead.

I wonder if it is the same woman, possibly with a back brace, who walk on Ygnacio valley rd almost everyday. If it is so, she got no sympathy from me.

It’s so sad that people assume they know what happened. Nowhere did it say that it was the driver’s or pedestrian’s fault. Quit jumping to conclusions.

I passed this person on my way to work and my heart breaks forever who hit them because I had to make a very quick lane change to avoid being anywhere near this person. They were wearing all dark and we’re walking where there is no light and right next to the actual Road where cars were driving. Not that they deserved to be dead, but they were not using good judgment at all with their attire, location, or behavior. My heart breaks for their family and breaks for the person who hit them.

Was the person in the street? westbound toward Oak Grove? or eastbound away from Oak Grove? …. not on the sidewalk on the south side of the street – right?

Yes she was an elderly woman, her car became disabled and she was walking in an area where no sidewalks are, near cottonwood trail but on YVR.

Not familiar with Cottonwood Trail – where is it? TIA

Cottonwood Trail is a trail in Walnut Creek, CA on Contra Costa Canal and Pine Creek in Lime Ridge Open Space.
