The following is from the Pleasant Hill Police Department:
On October 21, 2024, the Pleasant Hill Police Department investigated a missing juvenile.
The investigation led to an apartment complex in the 600 block of Old Quarry Road in Pleasant Hill. During attempts to contact the resident of the location, Officers discovered an additional missing juvenile at the location. The juveniles were with an adult man, 27-year-old Alejandro Gabriel Sainz of Pleasant Hill.
PHPD Detectives conducted interviews with the juveniles and arrested Sainz at the scene. After further investigation, Sainz was booked into county jail and charged by the Contra Costa County District Attorney with 20 felonies: including lewd acts with a minor, possession and or control of matter depicting minor in sexual acts and other unlawful sexual intercourse charges. Sainz has remained in custody since his arrest. With the assistance of the Contra Costa County Internet Crimes Against Children task force, multiple electronic devices were recovered from Sainz and his home.
This investigation is still active and ongoing.
Some details of this investigation are being withheld to protect the identity of the juveniles involved. Sainz and the juveniles initially made contact on the internet. The Pleasant Hill Police Department is committed to protecting our children and making Pleasant Hill a safe place for all. In total, two juveniles were located and were returned to appropriate care.
