Growing up in California, earthquakes are to be expected, and by the time it
registers in my head that there was an earthquake, it’s over. A tsunami can
last for hours, or even days. The closest I’ve ever come to a tsunami is riding
over the wake of another boat. I saw the movie, “The Impossible” on TV not
too long ago, and I must say, after seeing that movie, I would not want to be
anywhere near a tsunami. It was based on a true story about an American family
on vacation in Thailand when a massive tsunami hit and flooded the entire village
where they were staying, and people were swept away. It was a good movie, with
realistic special effects.
I fear neither.
They fear ME!
Quakes. They’re invisible and there are no immediate warning signs like with tsunamis. There’s no running from an earthquake, and they can happen any time of day or night.
Cant have one without the other
Dude. How many earthquakes have we had here followed by a tsunami? This warning was a first as far as I can recollect. 60 year resident of Claycord.
Not to mention they canceled the tsunami warning.
Earthquakes ….. little chance of a tsunami getting to us in Claycord country …. if there really was a fear of one getting here we’re in deep xxxx!
Tsunami would have travel a distance inland to get us.
As for earthquakes not worried, last big one bay are had was laying on waterbed and hanging light swayed. Waterbed had wave action.

Another time was at work, 800 foot building with four overhead cranes.
As you looked down the building could see walls moving with a wave like action.
Born & Raised in California and survived Earthquakes for the pass 67 years.
Tsunamis is not favored, … I don’t know how to swim and dislike pools.
It would depend on the magnitude of the quake, and my proximity to the water at the time. I would prefer to ride out an earthquake than to succumb to drowning in a watery sea of debris.
None of these????? you cannot live in fear. The Earth is a dynamic world we live on and you have to pay attention to your surroundings. If you live in an avalanche zone then you prepare yourself for the possibility… same as volcano, mudslide, flash flood, annoying neighbor. don’t live in fear…it will ruin your life
I agree with you Angry. Being prepared is key. I like how you added “annoying neighbor” in with your prep advice. I’m lucky to have great ones.
Prep up, peeps. You never know when you might need that can of chili or bottle of water.

A Tsunami could wash a shark right into your living room… and that would probably be one pissed off fish.

Nobody seems to be able to handle anything anymore. Everything is fear & worry…. and I’ve started to notice something: liberals usually live in a much higher state of continually fear than do conservatives.

Fear has nothing to do with anything. Respect has everything to do with everything.
I’d take earthquakes over a tsunami any day. Your chance of survival is much better.
