The following is from the CHP – Contra Costa:
Speeding is one of the leading causes of traffic collisions, injuries, and fatalities. The faster you drive, the less time you have to react, and the more severe a crash can become.
Did you know?
• The risk of severe injury or fatality during a car crash can be four to five times higher at 100 mph compared to those at 65 mph.
• Speed limits are set to protect drivers, passengers, and pedestrians. Driving even 10 mph over the speed limit can dramatically increase the risk of a fatal accident.
– Be responsible. Follow posted speed limits.
– Plan ahead. Allow extra time for travel.
– Stay alert. Speeding reduces your time to react in unexpected situations.
Tire wear, wet road surface are factors.
Most people have no clue how many feet it takes to stop at a given speed.

Allow the impatient to speed ahead of you, they will be the ones on side of the road talking to the nice officer. Method serves me well, last speeding ticket 1975.
