The flood control channel at Willow Pass Rd. under hwy.242 in Concord is flooded with trash, which will eventually find its way into our local waterways.
It should not be acceptable. However, our governent spends our resources on things I would not. I would shutdown the homeless camps immediately after discovering them as I beleive they are a primary contributor to th e garbage in our channels. I would also go after illegal dumping and unregistered vehicles.
But then again, with our current woke government, cleanliness and law abiding citizens are not a priority.

in the last picture, the dirt area to the left has been one of the largest homeless encampments in all of Concord. You connect the dots on where the garbage came from.

It is disgusting. And it is not acceptable. But there’s no one to deal with it. And zero consequences.

You should see the Concord Ave side. It mysteriously started to get cleaned up about a week ago. Looks like Gavin’s push to “clean up this filth” must be working as he starts to get things together for his 2028 presidential push.
Gavin’s “clean up the filth?” guy can’t even wash his hair.

It is not acceptable but until the homeless problem is properly addressed (not an expert on how) it will be there along with the trash in Walnut/Pacheco creek. The majority seems to be from homeless camping and will all wash down to the straights then into the bay. Could always use work detail to clean until the problem is figured out but just a Band-aid.

Why is it acceptable?
what is the penalty? Everyone does it. I am entitled to do whatever I want to do.
While I do dispose of my “stuff” in either a trash or recycling can, some will tell you that I’m brainwashed.

Citizens / residents don’t find it acceptable but obviously local officials don’t mind – out of sight out of mind ….. maybe get the Health Dept. involved to get some urgency behind cleaning it up and keeping it that way… better yet – fix the problem and remove the cause.

Everything is acceptable nowadays and what is so disgusting about it? Yeah it’s garbage trash leaves branches everything washes into those big canals so you can’t expect them to be clean lots of homeless camps are down in them and when the water rises they don’t have time to vacate everything out of there so it gets washed downstream.
If it’s so disgusting why don’t you get a group of people together and go clean it up?
Hammer head,
.
Unfortunately, shoplifters and other minor offenders either rarely get charged or don’t get charged at all for their crimes, so they don’t have sentences to work off. You’d first have to get Contra Costa County District Attorney Diana Becton to actually charge repeat shoplifters and other minor offenders for their crimes, then get juries to actually convict them of the crimes they committed, and finally get judges to sentence them. Unfortunately, we now live in a soft on crime county.

What do they expect in a city that allows the homeless to run rampant?

I am sure there is a lot of illegal dumping by shady contractors, handymen and landscapers as well.
Lower dump fees would help. It’s outrageous what they charge now.
When I was a kid we loved the dump runs to Martinez in my Dad’s truck. Mom hated it though, we always came home with more then we brought!
That is not trash from landscapers, contractors, or handymen. That’s trash from the “trash.” Easy place to throw it out of your cardboard back door. You think lower dump fees will help??? The unhoused don’t go to the dump. They bring it to us.

Something along lines of trash trap with a chain driven conveyor system to bring refuse to above ground level and into dumpsters with a system to shuttle full dumpster out of the way and an empty one into position. Would have to be a custom design. Electrical and system controls would be easy. At my old job, our division’s maintenance shop used to build from scratch or improve existing requirement regularly. Was fun to go to work. Secret was having bosses that trusted us and didn’t micromanage.

This is the Contra Costa County Flood Control property. They should be held accountable for cleaning up the homeless filth that is down there. The homeless are always hanging out in that area.

In Contra Costa County, the Contra Costa County Flood Control and Water Conservation District is primarily responsible for the maintenance and clean-up of “Drainage Area” creeks and flood control canals, encompassing the entire county including its cities;.
Key points about responsibility:
Maintenance focus:
The District owns property throughout the county to construct and maintain regional flood
control basins, channels, and creeks.
Unincorporated areas:
For drainage facilities within unincorporated areas of Contra Costa County, the County Public Works Department handles maintenance.
Contacting authorities:
If you have concerns about a drainage area creek or flood control canal, contact the Contra Costa County Flood Control and Water Conservation District
Based on the images and description, this would be “Drainage Area” #3 and #24 They’re busy helping FEMA and for-profits in promoting (and, in some cases) Requiring flood insurance ….keep those phones hot…. to keep our disease laden drains cleaned out!
Generated by street people…

You seem to be the expert on this issue, so how about you organize and arrange the clean up of the “Pine Creek Flood Control Channel.”
Our tax dollars are for that. you clearly do not work 9 to 5 & pay taxes with a take like that!
@925 (the expert)…
You’ve now been out in charge of cleaning it up. So we expect it to be done by next week.
Hi,
I think repeat shop lifters and other minor offeners should clean this up as part of their sentence. They might learn a leason… Just a thought….
No they belong in jail sitting in a 5×10 cell, not out in the open air walking around.

If you’re convinced this is all the government’s fault and it won’t likely be addressed, grab some gloves and some bags.
The government’s priorities are upside down.
Only we the voters can change that.
Show up a City Council Meetings and let your voices be heard.
