People who talk on speaker phone in public. You look dumb enough holding it like a square slice of Totino’s pizza, now the rest of us have to hear about your plans to pick up your IBS medication on the way home from pilates. If this sounds very specific, it’s because it happened yesterday.
As a sales associate I find it rude when I’m ringing someone up and they are on the phone, I have to interrupt them, since they don’t pay attention, like “do you want to use this coupon you have, have would like to pay, and how would you like your receipt.

People who run red lights and people who don’t use turn signals.
On the driving note, people who get in the turning lane at the very last second and don’t bother to look that someone is already in it. Or those who gradually start getting into the turning lane. Our driver’s ed and licensing system should equal the rigidity that European countries have.
Also, this push to add bike lanes to roads where the speed limit is 40 is dangerous.

WOKE Liberals. I’m not talking about your typical every day Democrat,
I’m talking about the radical, arrogant Libs that are anti-establishment,
that oppose our existing political and economic structures.
Especially the ones advocating for a socialist and communist society.
One big differences between the Left and the Right, is that the Left
creates problems, then they attempt to fix the problem by throwing
more money at it, thereby creating another problem, and blame
the Right for the mess they created and cannot fix. The Left is
very good at creating victims, while the Right want to protect
victims from being victimized by the Left.

My biggest pet peeve is the lack of leadership in Calif and even though the residents vote one way – Newscum or his cronies do whatever they want with impunity and no accountability (couple that with PG&E the CPUC, & Newscum doing the same thing – blackouts, rate increases, etc.)
You left out CARB which is driving all of this ridiculousness.

If “Pet Peeve” means what pisses you off, I would say the shty drivers who run lights, drive way too fast for certain areas, can’t take their eyes off their f’n phones…pretty much bad driving.
People who have a green right turn light but don’t go because, for some reason, they seem to think that they don’t have the right of way.
People who cut in front of someone who is legally making a U-turn.
4-way stops; it is the part when no one knows when to go or not to go. Instead of having 4-way stops, we should have traffic circles since they work the best.
If you find yourself approaching a 4-way stop, pay attention to who arrives at their respective stop first; they have the right of way. If you arrive at your stop sign at the same time as another driver, the driver to the right has the right of way. If there is a question of who’s turn it is to proceed, a friendly wave is always helpful.
DMV 101.
What really peeves me is driver’s who won’t take their right of way or just sit there waiting for me to arrive and come to a full stop & THEN they go!
Some people just insist on driving by a different set of rules & that causes accidents.

Traffic signals most anywhere in town that turn red for no apparent reason: no vehicular traffic, no pedestrians. This gets to be really annoying when the same happens at the next signal ahead!!
I drive into town on Clayton from Ayers around 6:20AM. There are several intersections at which this occurs. C’mon traffic engineers….get it together!

Poor behavior on airplanes:
-Consuming rancid smelling Sushi in squeaky styrofoam containers
-Removing shoes from rancid smelling feet
-Consuming a 64 oz beverage while in the window seat on a short flight thereby forcing other passengers to get up for the resulting multiple restroom trips.
-Stowing luggage up front in the plane only to sit in the back, and then elbowing their way to the front in an attempt to get off the plane ahead of the courteous passengers
-Bringing obviously over-sized luggage on the plane and then beating the hell out of the storage compartment door in a futile attempt to get it to fit and then acting confused
-Young mothers ordering grape juice for little Ralph and then refusing a lid from the flight attendant as little Ralph is learning to use a big boy cup today. Besides, that person in the expensive business suit on their way to an important meeting will understand when little Ralph dumps the contents on them. After all, the world revolves around little Ralph.
Had a new one on a Southwest flight yesterday- getting off the plane a women pulls her carry on out of the overhead and sets it in the aisle, then goes back into the seat area to finish packing up her crap. This is while people are lined up behind her in the aisle to get by, the isle is clear in front of her row!. There was about 6 inches of space to get by.
My god are some people clueless.

People who drive cars with Washington plates in California.
People who apparently think turn signals are optional. When I do see someone with their turn signal on I assume it’s on by mistake and act accordingly. Aggressive drivers in heavy traffic weaving in and out of the lanes to save a few seconds, virtually all of the time without using their turn signals. It seems to me that most of the offenders are in pickup trucks or BMWs. Pickup trucks tailgating, especially jacked up pickups at night with their headlights blasting into your car. Moving roadblocks, the vast majority of which seem to be either a Camry or a Prius. Slower traffic keep right!
I’ve driven almost 4,000 miles in Europe (mostly in Italy) in the last two years and the quality of the drivers there is definitely better.
Occasionally if I catch a horrendous driver at the next light, I’ll motion for them to roll down the window. Looking very credible and concerned I’ll say, “Your right rear wheel is really out of balance, you should have that looked at”.
People who say “hot water heater”
It’s just a water heater…. if the water was already hot you would not need a heater.
Just say “water heater” damn it!
I once heard someone say, “RV Vehicle.” The redundancy apparently did not register.

My pet peeve mostly have to do with driving, as someone already mentioned, red light runners etc.
The other is people drive in parking lots, like it is a racetrack. They come around corners way too fast, sometimes, just barely missing someone pulling out, or worse a pedestrian. A co worker was hit in the crosswalk at Sun Valley Mall about a year ago, not sure if it was speed or just not paying attention. However, when I worked at the Stanford Mall, a young lady peeled out of the parking lot very fast, hit a pedestrian, he ended up under her car, when emergency arrived, they not only had to attend to the wounded (could never find out how badly he was hurt or if he even survived) and also attend to the driver who was hysterical. My other pet peeve is people that double park to let someone out of the car, if it is an elderly person or someone handicapped fine, but often that is not the case. They interrupt traffic just because someone is too lazy to walk a block or so.
Or those who back out of a parking space expecting other drivers to stop for them. Or those who do not wait for someone to park and they start pulling away from the parking spot.
Another is, people who open the car door to oncoming traffic. Kids and pets should be let out of the car from the passenger side and not the driver side.
Hanne, yes, people driving in parking lots like they R on a $%^^ Freeway! I am (still) stunned when
I see driver(s) going waaay more than any reasonable thinking person should be driving(speed).
Another of my pet peeves are people who have been here a long time and they don’t speak English. When l came over her l had 1 and 1/2 year of English in school and learning English was one of my motivations for coming here. I read the local Westport papers and on my afternoon break l would watch the soaps because they spoke fairly slowly and was easy to understand. Of course l was quite young so it’s easier to pick up another language than when you are older. Another motivation was l wanted to date the good looking American guys and wanted to be able to converse with them
There’s no incentive for foreigners to learn English. Everywhere you go, they have employees who speak Spanish and other foreign languages. And we have printed material printed in several languages that the taxpayers are paying for. Arnold Schwarzenegger didn’t know any English when he came to America either, he also learned by watching TV. My mother was from Sicily and learned English listening to the radio and reading the newspaper. While she was attending school in the US she learned how to speak English without an accent.
Being bilingual is a good thing, but if you are going to live here you should make an effort to learn English. In Europe almost everyone speaks and read at least two languages, or at least can converse in another language. Some of that has to do with that most countries border on other countries. The Danes that live close to the border of Germany, pick up German. School teaches 2 or 3 languages. In Denmark German and English is taught in schools, and then you have a choice of a third language, usually French or Italian. In Denmark which is a very small country, 5 million many textbooks for higher education are in English or German. Even job that are not considered higher education, such as secretary you would have to speak at least English and preferable also some German.
My daughter and son in law live by Pasadena (Monrovia) and they enrolled my granddaughter in kindergarten that teaches Spanish, and the same for my grandson when next year he starts kindergarten. I think that is a good thing, it will open more doors for them

I wasn’t going to contribute since mine are common to most people, then I realized I DO have one. On far too many occasions when I patronize a convenience store and pay with cash, the clerk will short me on my change to the tune of a few cents. Depending on my mood I will stand there and make them open the register again and give me my pennies. Now, if my change is correct in the first place the pennies are probably going in the little loose change container on the counter anyway, so I’m not making a big deal about a couple pennies. Funny, the error is ALWAYS in the store’s favor – if I’m owed $.28, I NEVER get $.30 in change.

LoL at Totino’s pizza! And yes, I agree; other people are not interested in hearing your business. Have a little courtesy and some class.
When I am involuntarily included in someone else’s public phone call, I always do my best to hold up my end of the conversation.
I too include myself in the conversation but they get mad and tell me to mind my business. Who knew!?
