It appears Proposition 36 will pass. California’s Prop.36 allows felony charges and increases sentences for certain drug and theft crimes.
Proposition 36 makes several key changes related to punishments for theft and drug crimes. First, it increases punishment for some of these crimes. Second, it creates a new treatment-focused court process for some drug possession crimes. Third, it requires courts to warn people convicted of selling or providing illegal drugs to others that they can be charged with murder if they keep doing so and someone dies.
😼👍Lock ’em up… Give them education and treatment behind bars.
NO EXCUSES,
.
Since high school, college, and trade educational services are already available in our prisons, every prison sentence should require inmates to earn a high school diploma, trade certificate, and/or a college degree. Continuing to house inmates for years or decades, where they’ve learned absolutely nothing, and just return to a life of crime, is nothing but a pointless waste of time and our money. Our judicial sentencing and inmate rehabilitation systems are broken.
💯% Black Knight… if they’re willing and capable of being educated..it should be a requirement to succeed before release. If not capable…they need to be in another institution of lifetime care. If capable but totally incorrigible, they need to never see daylight again.
Looking like around 50% positive results overall.
Glad to see minimum wage hike get shot down, plus Oakland Mayor and D.A getting the boot.
Still not where the voting public wants it, but trending in the right direction.
Good, now the DAs have no excuse
for not lock these people up.
SNICKERDAD,
.
It won’t make a difference in Contra Costa County.
Well this is good news! And apparently it’s going to pass big time despite Governor Newsom being against this, because he doesn’t want people to have to go to prison.
( remember he’s been working to close prisons down and push the criminals out into the public) This foils his plan! Good!
Privileged big money insulated Greasy Gavin doesn’t have to experience the plight of criminals running rampant in our communities. He only looks at things in terms of how he will benefit personally.
Well now democrat’s fix, for AB-109, Prop 47 making it hard for police to charge Felonies.
.
What’s going to happen, jails in all 58 counties will become more overcrowded, resulting in misdemeanor criminals being released after serving a fraction of their sentences. After two or more theft convictions felony charges kick in. I give it two maybe three years and democrats running California will be in panic mode.
.
If I’m still around, it’ll be fun to watch.
This is a beginning. Now recall Becton
Yes, get her out of there.
Just waiting for some liberal judge to rule it unconstitutional like so many propositions that were voted for by the people
Kind of sad that this is actually an issue we citizens have to vote on, how far astray this state has gone, that we have to write a proposition to make crime, a crime.
On a separate note, I do hope the Senate, as a whole, fully reject schiff. I know that will not be the case, due to the group of soulless leeches on the left side of the aisle.
Awesome!! Glad to see Californians waking up and voting to stop these looters. Lock them up and teach them a lesson.
This is a good start. Also glad to see Price being recalled in Alameda County. With Becton still in charge over here, I hope the clowns don’t see this as an opportunity to focus their criminal activity in Contra Costa but I’m betting that is what will happen. Time to try and recall Becton.
I hope an article about what proposition passed and which didn’t get posted on this site.
The 2 problems I have with prop 36 is 1) The section about “treatment mandated felonies” for drug possession. 2) No actual expansion of drug treatment programs.
So they’re going to force treatment on people committing the victimless crime of possessing small amounts of drugs into a drug treatment system that is already abysmal. And if they don’t get better they go to jail. This will fail 100%. I’ve known many drug addicts over the years and they all have lacked access to treatment programs in the bay area (except san francisco). Jail has only compounded their drug issues, no improved it. A felony conviction for drug possession is insane and will dig their hole deeper. We need way more funding for drug and mental health treatment if they’re going to pull something like this.
bye bye dirtbags
