You actually care? Wait, you fear? Geez I’ve heard it all now.

Yup and only self checkout at any store that has it. Have no desire to interact with a real person.

Yes, only at Safeway for when we are picking up a few items.

Yes, i like it i use it when i can grocery outlet and trader joe the only one i can think of with out self check out?

No. I shop at off hours when the lines are shorter. I have used self-checkout a few times and found myself having to look up codes for what I was buying. No, thanks.

It depends on how many items I have and how long the lines are.
Sometimes the self-check line is long because people there didn’t notice that the regular checkout lines had disappeared, and I breeze through the regular checkout instead.

Yes because it is faster since the stores mandate 15 items or fewer for self checkout.

11

Yes for smaller purchases… for the weekly shopping with many items I go through a checker

Will NEVER use self check out.

I don’t believe in putting people out of work ! ! ! !

No, why should I do the clerk’s job for them? It’s bad enough I
have to unload my cart and place the items on a conveyor belt.
I remember when it was the clerk’s job to do the unloading, and
a bagger would bag your groceries and place them in the cart.
If the stores want to force us to do a job their employees are paid
to do, then they should give the customers a 10% discount, minimum.
The only self serve I like is pumping my gas, because I don’t trust
the attendants. Too many times before there was self serve,
they would spill gas on my car.

I always use Scan & Go at Sam’s Club.
I usually use self-check at Walmart because it’s quicker.
I never use self-check at Publix, Kroger, or Costco, because their machines hate me.

Yes, because I’m usually buying less than 15 items and there are folks with shopping carts full in checker line. I can also keep a close eye on whether the prices are as advertised as I check them in. Checkers may go too fast to keep up with the price check.

Yes. I don’t feel good about it particularly, but I do it. But I still write checks to pay bills, mostly to be annoying. And I like the process too I guess. Must be the German in me.

I don’t think anyone should feel bad about it. I noted before self-check that when the PA announced for more clerks to come up front to do check out they didn’t seem to like that and preferred just stocking shelves. Maybe some former grocery clerks here can confirm the attitude.

“Self Check Out”?
I never knew stores had such a thing.
Anyway I have a full length mirror at home and check myself out every day before I walk out that door…. Hurache sandals, cargo shorts, Coofandy cotton pullover & Panama hat…. where are my sunglasses?

Beautiful, . . . . It’s so much fun to think outta the box.

My ideal shopping trip lasts 10 minutes from pulling into the parking lot until leaving.

Self-checkout allows me to beat the clock.

But the real question here is, what are “beating on that clock”? Is it death of stroke in your 60’s because of rushing or is it hospice care with cancer and no family around because you worked 70+ hours a week because you “made it” and was never around because of “work”? Real question, not being an a hole here

Yes, but I do not like the idea of not being able to buy booze from that type of checkout line. I was recently in the Lafayette Safeway and half the self checkouts were out of order and of course it was a Friday afternoon and packed with customers.

Even the non-alcoholic beers are not allowed at self checkouts. Dumb.

6

Yes. When you only have a few items, it’s the most convenient. Quick and easy.

7

I go to Lunardi’s. They remove your items from the cart, scan and bag. Very quickly, I might add.

Also, I always buy beer so can’t self scan anyway!

.
Yes, whenever possible.

The patrician will realize that self checkout means one less gross set of unwashed hands touching your purchases. That is obviously preferable.

Visited Burger King today and was very happy to see self seve kiosks to order and pay! No more dealing with people that can’t get an order right because of a language barrier. This gets around paying a fast food worker $20+/hour wages now if we can just get robots to fix the actual food problem solved!

Automation was slowly replacing humans, CA state legislature and His Imperial Majesty Emperor newsom made automation top priority for restaurant chains. Idea might have been to get fast food workers off of welfare, exact opposite has taken place. Estimated between 10,000 and 20,000 have lost their jobs or had their hours cut. Shallow thinking democrats are so smart . . .
