She made me come close to just smashing my guitars to splinters, and buying a set of golf clubs. Incredible talent. : https://youtube.com/shorts/5GlMwCHfTjY?si=4IN5HXwNnhTVUfUU
Thanks for Sharing!
I am enjoying the decorated houses for Halloween. Looking forward to seeing even more.
Cowellian’s first.
Happy October!
According to SFGATE, there seems to be an infestation of nutria in the Bay Area, including in CCC. Instead of restaurants being closed due to rats/roaches/mice, how soon because of a 20-pound rodent? They ought to do a combined feral pig/nutria hunt every now and again (like Florida does with the Python Challenge).
Saw article earlier this morning and did some research, did not know they had reached California.
“They are known to carry tapeworms and are hosts for potentially deadly diseases such as tuberculosis and septicemia. They are also carriers for blood and liver flukes that can lead to infection through exposure to contaminated water, according to the California Department of Fish and Wildlife.”

California given it’s climate could surpass Louisiana if an all out eradication effort is not put into effect.
“Recent estimates put the population of nutrias in southeast Louisiana as high as 6,000 animals per square mile.”
https://tinyurl.com/482vju83
The last line of that article, OG: “In fact, feral populations have now become established in 17 states, including Louisiana, Washington, Oregon and California.”
Two (compound) questions …
1) “feral populations” as opposed to what? Pet Populations?!?
2) Who named them? What is the root word for Nutria? Which came first…’nutria’ or ‘nutrition’?
In England, we call them coypu.
But you might be onto something comparing nutria and nutrition – I wonder how edible they are! Contemplation of this may lead to useful results.
I used to see Nutria out here in Tule Land often and reported them to DFW but I have not seen any for 2 years now, no more beavers either but we still have sea lions & otters.
Rats & mice? Bait rodent traps with roasted unsalted peanuts in the shell.
Use a twist tie to secure it to the trigger.
100% guaranteed to work.
If you are located somewhere that it’s legal to shoot but you wish to be silent try this:

Stinky small rodents (mice) are bad enough. They don’t have bladders and one needs to remember not to literally scare the p*ss out of them or they will spray the floor as they scramble. They act like it’s their house not yours so much so that if you hate the sticky traps as inhumane you probably won’t care anymore because they so deserve what’s coming.
.
Besides I was thinking that if mice were bigger they would kill us so now you mention the nutria. 😱
.
So what are your ways of dealing with rodents and are you seeing more of them this year than before? One neighbor has success success with the electronic traps. I’ve experimented with various sonic sound clips as well as cat sounds. Stickies work but then you need to put them out of their misery. They aren’t coming in for food because often don’t tough what I put out on the traps or even loose to see if any mice are still around. 🐀🐀🐀
I trap live any and all rodents and throw in the garbage can, they live just fine in the trash can and get picked up on trash day and will live happily ever after in the landfill with plenty of food to eat and away from humans.
I used to shoot most of the rodents big and small around our house with the .22 then neighbors started complaining to the cops, so then I made a homemade silencer so they couldn’t hear me shooting anymore but they still complain to the cops and I was killing them that way.
Mice do have bladders
Party pee-per!🤣
I went to Taco Bell today at 11am, and could not get to the drive thru because of all the cars trying to get into Dutch Bros.
I knew it was going to be an issue.
The worst part is, there were cars coming in from Clayton Road AND from whatever that street is next to Strictly to Go Pizza, and both were at a complete standstill. Meanwhile, people were also trying to get out. It was such a mess.
Shame on you City of Concord. Dutch Bros should have not been allowed to occupy so little of a space and at the same time also occupy much of Taco Bell’s space. It’s basically hurting both businesses. I imagine the day care or whatever behind Dutch Bros isn’t easy to access either.
I find it more amusing that people buy that garbage and wait in long standstill lines to get it.
I thought Starbucks patrons were nuts but Dutch Bros? That’s pathetic.
I think Dutch Bros patrons are there because it’s not Starbucks. But yeah sitting in a cars using gas or using up the battery is a bit silly. The one in Martinez has parking so they don’t have to wait in the car line. But I’m not into sugary drinks and haven’t tried their espresso but then I do better coffee at home anyway. ☕
Simple solution would be to open another Dutch Brothers 2 blocks away.
Big shout-out to PG&E’s maintenance crews!
A couple of nights ago, our power went out, along with the power to several nearby houses. A neighbour’s tree had grown into the wires and, with the wind, had severed a wire.
The PG&E guys worked really hard trimming the tree and reconnecting the line in the dark. They were fast, efficient and courteous. Hats off to them!
It’s not the maintenance crews who are the problem. It’s PG&E’s senior management and their kowtowing to their major investors which makes the company look like a huge scam.
Does ginger make anyone else fart? Dang, I had to go sit outside lest I kill all the house plants. Miso ginger marinated coho fillet from the Nugget. Have another one too, better give it a few days to recover.
I took everything off my kitchen counter to clean
and found a funny looking raisin.
Was pretty sure it was an old blueberry that got away some weeks ago,
so I popped it in my mouth. It was not an old blueberry
and I should not have eaten it.
I bought an upgraded boresight camera and now
can’t stop finding places to put it.
Turns out I have a lot of cleaning to do is the only useful thing so far.
Birds are d***s. Every single one of them.
I miss Antler.
Fargo might be the best television I’ve seen in a long time. I wish I had time for everything.
Have a wonderful weekend everyone!
Then lay off the ginger. In oriental medicine you may not need very much of it. For some people ginger aids digestion. Flatulence is a sign of an imbalance that you don’t need. It would be modern medicine would go back to simpler things and aiding petroleum industry in getting rid of their by-products.
“It would be better if modern medicine..” and “not aiding petroleum…” corrections, arg!
Thanks Bebops. I’ll be scraping the marinade off that next fillet before grilling.
Or… maybe it wasn’t the ginger… … … 🙄 dried blueberry.
Good eye, but that was Friday night. If I’m home, Friday night is housework night. Start the weekend refreshed. But again I’m too old to be picking stuff up I found on the counter and eating it, on that we agree. 🙃
Ginger should have just the opposite effect…. I suspect another culinary culprit.
what else was on the menu?
Only variance was the miso ginger marinade.
Cool…advice from a doctor. 😝👊
Yes, but according to the AMA I’m not a real doctor… they say I need a diploma from a “real” medical school that actually exists….. you can still take my advice tho!
Wine & beer can getcha gassy, so can most carbonated beverages and even foods that are good for you will do it, but breaking wind isn’t unhealthy.
I think your solution was fine … just go outside and let ’em fly.
The effect of ginger varies from person to person. Unfortunately having a diploma from a medical school won’t help as doctors get little training in nutrition. The field is more for a nutritionist and even there corporate politics can take a toll. I’m not a practitioner either but have taken a few courses which anyone can do. I read recently that Asians are surprised westerners don’t know about or pay attention to heating and cooling effects of food. The knowledge can help keep you healthy. And much of it is just common sense.
Not sure if anyone has driven down Cowell Rd since the street repairs were done but it isn’t much better than before the repairs. The spots that didn’t get resurfaced will need to be resurfaced/repaired within a year. It is still like driving on a buck board all the way down Cowell Rd.
When you fuel up your vehicle, do you lock the doors ? ? ?
https://tinyurl.com/5emfu3uw
When I need a receipt I lock the doors because 9 times outa 10 the damned ARCO station pumps are out of receipt paper & I have to “See the clerk for receipt”!
Then I have to get in line and wait my turn just to get the receipt……. lazy employees can’t load a roll of paper in the pumps daily?
Yes, I lock my doors when I fuel up, even though I have my purse over my shoulder. It’s a habit to lock my car doors whenever I get out of my car… no exceptions. I don’t pay at the pump, but if I did, I wouldn’t leave my keys in the ignition. What was he thinking?
