Four Arrested For DUI During Enforcement Patrol In Concord

by CLAYCORD.com

Concord Police arrested four drivers on suspicion of DUI while conducting a DUI enforcement patrol on September 20.

Drivers charged with DUI face an average of $13,500 in fines and penalties, as well as a suspended license.

Concord Police Department reminds the public that impaired driving is not just from alcohol. Some prescription medications or over-the-counter drugs may interfere with driving. Always follow directions for use and read warning labels about driving or operating heavy machinery, which includes driving a car. While medicinal and recreational marijuana are legal, driving under the influence of marijuana is illegal.

Funding for this DUI Patrol was provided by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety, through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

It’s great that 4 suspected DUIs were apprehended. That may have saved a life or two.
However, 4 DUIs pails in comparison to the all day long threat of being hit by a “red light bandit”!
This seems to be issue of increasing frequency. Their selfish actions combined with other not so great driving performances puts everyone else in harms way. I drive to & from work in Concord and there is not a day that I don’t witness some dangerous & outlandish driving.
Why can’t CPD be more proactive with traffic enforcement? There was a time that motorcycle cops were patrolling the streets & doing a great job. What became of that? C’mon LEOs; help us out!

I 100% agree with the outlandish driving in Concord. Just yesterday I was waiting at the left turn arrow from Cowell onto YVR. I got the green arrow, and three cars in succession ran their red light starting about a second after I got the green arrow. It is insane.

I was unable to attend due to prior commitments. Hopefully our schedules can align at some point, but regretfully a combination of short notice and non convenient locality makes that unlikely.
