Temperatures around the Bay Area will spike starting today, with some areas, including Contra Costa County hitting triple digits, forecasters said.

A high pressure system will bring moderate heat risk for some inland communities Tuesday through Friday, the National Weather Service said.

Wednesday and Thursday are forecast to be the warmest days, with high temperatures 5 to 15 degrees above average at areas away from the coast.

High temperatures in the 90s to 103 are expected inland, and in the 80s near San Francisco Bay.

Friday will mark the beginning of cooler temperatures, the weather service said.

The warming trend prompted air district officials to call for a Spare the Air Alert on Tuesday and Wednesday.

I guess I have no choice in the matter, I’ll swelter in place in front of the TV with an ice bucket of cold beer, the AC cranked and a personal fan blowing directly on me …… then scream obscenities when I see the PG&E bill.

Spending a few days at Grandkids and that house has a swamp cooler, which I prefer over expensive to operate central air. Taught Grandson how to fine tune swamp cooler and test to gauge how many inches to open windows.
But apparently am not a good enough teacher.
.
Put one of these in each bedroom and living room, lets hot air out of rooms and cools attic at same time.

.
Then two turbine roof vents alsoknown as whirlybird to suck hot air our of attic.

Prices on both have gone up since we put them in.
Only reason for for big orange store URLs is, they sell both.
.
Cautioned Grandson as we were installing roof turbines, to be extremely careful of sharp sheet metal edges and 90 seconds later RED STUFF is leaking out of my sliced finger. They say, lead by example . . . . . . . .
.
On hot days turn swamp cooler on low around 09:30 and let it run all day.
House stays 15 to 20 degrees cooler than outside ambient. Grew up with huge swamp cooler, would get home from elementary school and stand in front of it.

Appreciate the alerts, they help.. Hope there will be a longer cooling trend period after Friday.

Why do they say temps are 5 to15 degrees above average? In the Bay Area, September is the hottest month of the year.
