Pleasant Hill police said Thursday that Buskirk Avenue reopened after being closed for more than 12 hours after a vehicle crashed into a power pole, causing an outage.
Buskirk Avenue, which runs parallel to northbound Interstate Highway 680, was shut down to motorists in both directions between Oak Park Boulevard and Hookston Road.
Police said the northbound vehicle crashed into a power pole near the corner of Mayhew Way around 9:20 p.m. Wednesday.
The driver fled the scene on foot. Police said Thursday they weren’t sure why.
The crash caused a power outage in the area of the crash. PG&E was on the scene and making repairs by 9:35 p.m.
A PG&E spokesperson said Thursday that the outage started at 9:19 p.m., impacting 2,566 customers at its peak. Within an hour of the outage, PG&E said it was able to safely restore power to all but 86 affected customers.
PG&E’s outage map said Thursday no customers were still affected by the crash.
He fled because that pole was attacking him! Don’t under estimate those poles! They are out to get you!
