The driver of a BMW SUV was arrested for driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol after a collision that killed a motorcycle rider Saturday, the California Highway Patrol said.
The collision was reported about 12:05 a.m. on westbound state Highway 24, east of Saint Stephens Drive in Orinda, the CHP said.
The man driving the motorcycle was pronounced dead at the scene, the highway patrol said. The man driving the BMW was not injured.
The crash is under investigation. Anyone who witnessed it or the events leading up to it is asked to contact CHP Contra Costa in Martinez at (925) 646-4980 or email their contact information to 320Investigations@chp.ca.gov to be contacted by the investigating officer.
Why do they tell us the name of the vehicle, but not the name of the driver? It’s not that I care because I don’t know the person, I just find it peculiar.
Possibly because the family has yet to be notified. And it’s still under investigation.

I guess Amy didn’t read the article that the BMW driver was Drunk and killed the motorcyclist. Condolences to his or her family that loss their loved one due to a selfish and ignorant drunk.

31 years as a paramedic in Contra Costa county. I wouldn’t ride one of those things if my life depended on it. Too many crazy drivers and drunk drivers
And many would have to be considered crazy drunk drivers.
