This aught to be riche.
Their forums, meeting, etc. are a waste of time.
Nothing gets done. They poo poo everything and then hide out.
Will the impracticality meter get pegged? We seem to have a lot of idealists with impractical ideas these days. We’ll see.
The one question they won’t allow…or answer…: When did loitering, sleeping in doorways, camping on public thoroughfares become legal in Walnut Creek, California, USA? There have always been ‘small’ hobo camps tucked away, out of sight. Not really much of a drag on society. But what we have now–everywhere–every small town–every city… is a disgrace and furthermore, proof that the Democrat Handout Machine is a total failure. I remember Grandma’s telling a story of the occasional knock on her back door during and after the depression: A man would ask if she had any work he could do in exchange for some food. She told him to sit down on the porch and she’d bring him a plate of food. She did not take advantage of him (them)..nor did he take advantage of her kindness. Some found a small way to work off the meal…raking leaves without being asked kind of thing. That system, while not perfect, was livable for all. (and the stuff of many romance movies about those actual times.)
What we have today ——- thanks in most part, in my opinion, is outrageous and directly the result of goody-two-shoe women’s “aid” and show-off societies that grew from those “back door” times— and that led to today’s Political Welfare Society. and the deeper in debt “they” take us, it’s only going to be getting worse.
Homelessness and street drug addiction are the direct result of closing down the hospitals and institutions where the HELPLESS could get help. The correct decision back then was to clean up the crooked institution… not throw out the HELPLESS out onto the street.
Well this should just fix everything.
I have a solution for the forum to consider.

Great – another forum, another study, another bureaucracy, another meeting – and again, NOTHING gets done except wasting time and money.
How many meetings have been held to study this? And exactly WHAT has been resolved?
These are nothing more than feel-good efforts by politicians who are looking to claim that they’ve done “something” about, and their illiterate followers who drool over their INACTION.
Given that, I hold the voters responsible for the failures.
4 of the representatives on the panel represent groups looking for more money to provide services to those on the street. Who on the panel will talk about laws, enforcing laws and saying we should not be a community that has residents living on the street. Real compassion is getting them off the street. We need to have panelists on laws, addiction and recovery centers. People that can talk about eliminating the problem, not supporting it.
👉”4 of the representatives on the panel represent groups looking for more money to provide services to those on the street.——————–BINGO!
WC—CREEKER,
.
They need to have panelists who represent Walnut Creek property owners, residents, and business owners, to speak on the toll homelessness takes on the non-homeless community. Who’s looking out for the interests of property owners, residents, and business owners? NOBODY!!!
What a waste of time, everyone knows hot to get rid of them but too many pansies out there to actually do it.
Walnut Creek really needs to watch out now that San Francisco is clearing up its homeless encampments! They’re going to probably hop on BART and get off and Walnut Creek where there has been tolerance over the last 3 to 5 years. The Trinity Homeless Center in Walnut Creek also attracts homeless to the city. While they do do a good deed, that center is pulling people in from other areas who then loiter and Walnut Creek. ( they claim they were helping local citizens but they pulled in a lot of people that come in from Concord and Oakland) ( and the county connection bus runs free between Concord and Walnut Creek Bart) I think the city even funds it partially along with the church next door.
Either way Walnut Creek better stay on guard or else it’s going to suddenly have homeless in every doorway
Did they ever think of inviting the homeless to share in the meeting and what they would be willing to do to better their lives??? Perhaps work for the City cleaning up. ;).
Unhoused?
Only unhoused are those that come from red states and they try to make Newsom look bad.
You don’t have to TRY to make that guy look bad. It’s all glaringly there if you open your eyes.
Rottweilers, Fire hoses and batons will drive the parasitic scourge of these bums from our community.
Having an open forum like this is only meant to pacify the populace by letting them think they have a voice. They don’t.
They’ve already decided on their solution to this issue, which is to throw bags of your money at their problem. Then they’ll be back for more moolah when this latest funding runs dry.
Stop the handouts at taxpayer expense! Let resident taxpayers have a say in it!
Is the Walnut Creek Chamber of Commerce paying rent for the use of the Oak View Room at the Walnut Creek Library? You should only be required to register for this event if the Walnut Creek Chamber of Commerce is paying rent for use of this space. If they haven’t paid rent for use of this space then attendees shouldn’t be “required” to give up their 4th Amendment rights in order to attend this meeting. I’m so tired of the “cozy relationships” that exists between Cities and the Chamber of Commerce, as it has been my experience that Cities too often give “special privileges” to the Chamber of Commerce in their city, which often isn’t in the best interests of their citizens and residents.
We had a problem with rats so we gave them cheese….. now we have even more rats!
What went wrong?
👍🏼 exactly
Great analogy.
