The California Highway Patrol is looking for a hit-and-run suspect following a crash Sunday afternoon on state Highway 4 in Brentwood.

The CHP said that around 1 p.m., its officers were alerted to a two-vehicle hit-and-run crash on westbound Highway 4, just west of Lone Tree Way in Brentwood. A man was reported to be driving a burgundy Toyota Tacoma, which had four other adult female passengers.

At the same time, a motorist was traveling in the vicinity in a dark pickup truck with a trailer in tow, directly to the right of the Tacoma.

According to the CHP, the dark pickup truck unsafely changed lanes, crashing into the right side of the Tacoma, causing the driver of the Tacoma to lose control. The Tacoma truck went into a grassy center divider and overturned multiple times.

The dark pickup truck reportedly then fled the area on westbound Highway 4.

The Tacoma driver was unscathed but the four passengers were injured from the crash, with severe conditions. The CHP said that one of the passengers was airlifted to the hospital and the other three were transported by ambulance.

“All are expected to make full recoveries. Upon initial investigation, it was determined all occupants within the Tacoma were properly seat-belted. It is unknown whether the driver of the dark pickup truck was seat-belted during the crash and it is unknown if the crash is DUI related,” the CHP said.

Anyone with information about the crash or footage of it is asked to contact CHP – Contra Costa’s office in Martinez at (925) 646-4980 or email information to 320Investigations@chp.ca.gov to be contacted by the investigating officer.

There are not 5 seat belts in a Tacoma, and they would not be injured if wearing.

Crew cab?

What road You been driving on?Apparently You have not ever been in a roll over accident. You think they would not get injured wearing seat belts? The seat belt kept them all in the truck.Seat belt dose not stop Your head from being crushed as the roof of the truck comes smashing down over and over with each roll of the truck.Crew cab makes perfect sense Jellyfinger, good call.

I’m sure with the truck rolling over serval times and all of them surviving ( Thank You Lord) that they all were wearing their seat belts. I wish You all a speedy and full recovery. USA Jim, Your a big part of what’s wrong in our world today, By reading a one paragraph article Your ready to beat it was a truck full of illegals? Maybe it was a guy and His co workers heading or returning from somewhere. Maybe it was a bunch of college kids ,maybe it was was a man and His wife ,Her two sisters and a cuisine, planning a wedding, maybe it was this, maybe it was that . point being without more solid information being reviled You really are just shooting in the dark with Your preconceived ideas and beliefs. You were right about one thing though,it is indeed truly sickening.

People here really want to live in a world where are of their personal greatest fears are realized. It’s kind of crazy.

What’s wrong with the world is your being naive and stupidity towards reality. I am a realist sir! Based on that one paragraph it wasn’t all the things you said it should be like this or that! It was a truck full of illegals. Probably drinking as well
