President Biden Drops Out Of Presidential Race

President Joe Biden announced Sunday that he will not seek reelection in November.

Biden in a written statement said, “I believe it is in the best interest of my party and the country for me to stand down and focus solely on fulfilling my duties as President for the remainder of my term.”

The 81-year-old president had faced calls from other members of the Democratic Party to not run again due to concerns about his age, particularly after a stumbling performance at a debate with former President and Republican candidate Donald Trump last month.

In a separate statement, Biden said he endorse Vice President Kamala Harris, the former San Francisco district attorney, California attorney general and U.S. senator, to run as the Democratic candidate.

“My very first decision as the party nominee in 2020 was to pick Kamala Harris as my Vice President. And it’s been the best decision I’ve made,” Biden wrote. “Today I want to offer my full support and endorsement for Kamala to be the nominee of our party this year.

Democrats – it’s time to come together and beat Trump. Let’s do this.”

Biden said he will speak to the nation later this week in more detail about his decision to not run for reelection.

The announcement is the latest development in a chaotic 2024 presidential race, which was rocked last week by an attempted assassination of Trump in Pennsylvania.

The Democratic National Convention starts on Aug. 19 in Chicago, leaving less than a month for the party to determine if Harris or another candidate will be nominated.

What a great country! The worst President in our history has dropped out of the race and endorsed the worst and dumbest Vice President in our history.

MAGA!

66

You mean worse than a twice impeached, liar, rapist and convicted felon?

45
89

@Reality Check
YES, worse than that.

57
19

You have no proof of the mainstream tag lines you spew. Do you have any critical thought skills left or just the good foot soldier mentality?

2
1

If Biden is the worst President in history, how come James Buchanan has that honor? How come Trump is ranked the FOURTH WORST President in history? If Kamala is the worst and dumbest VP in our history, you clearly know nothing about a guy named Dan Quayle.

7
11

LIVING IN REALITY,
.
It’s all subjective! You’re comparing the personal views of some Claycordians with your personal views. You made that clear when you brought up Kamala Harris and Dan Quayle. You’re also comparing the subjective personal views of some Claycordians with the subjective personal views of biased “historians” who’ve used their biased and subjective interpretations of documents, audio, videos, actions, and events in order to rank presidents. Why would you give any credence to the biased and subjective rankings of “historians?”
.
The rankings of the presidents by “historians” is largely meaningless, too. If “historians” are interpreting history fairly then we wouldn’t see much difference in the presidential rankings, but over the last 25 years we’ve seen huge shifts in the rankings of President Grant moving up and President Wilson moving down, largely due to both past and modern “historians” subjective view of race. “Historians” should be interpreting history based on the norms of the day and times in which they served as president, not based on “historians” modern biased and subjective interpretations of those past norms.
.
President Lincoln is consistently rated as our best president because he kept the nation together, which resulted in the end of slavery. His actions also resulted in the deaths of 650,000 Americans, the suspension of habeas corpus, and the suspension of Constitutional rights. I find it odd that his positives so outweigh his negatives.
.
I read two biographies of President Grant, one written by a white man and one written by a black man. President Grant had wanted to annex the Dominican Republic as a US territory, so that former slaves could move to the Dominican Republic, where they would largely govern themselves. The white author made the point that this showed President Grant wasn’t a racist and had faith in former slaves being able to govern themselves. The black author made the point that this showed President Grant was a racist and hated black people because he wanted to ship former slaves to the Dominican Republic. Which historic view of President Grant is true and correct?
.
Presidents W.H. Harrison, Zachary Taylor, and James A. Garfield each died in office fairly early into their terms as president. Each of these presidents are continually ranked among the worst presidents because of the short time they served in the office. These “historians” view these three presidents among the worst because they don’t believe these presidents did enough in office in order to judge them, yet they’re being judged among the worst. Why are these “historians” only judging changes these three president made, rather than judging these three presidents on keeping things the same? Why aren’t they being rated among the best presidents, rather than continually being rated among the worst presidents? This biased and subjective way of thinking by “historians” has largely put multiple term presidents among the best and single term presidents among the worst. Their methodology is flawed!
.
President Grover Cleveland served two non-consecutive terms as the 22nd and 24th presidents. “Historians” rank President Cleveland as a two-term president, but since he served as president twice, shouldn’t they rank him by each term served as president?
.
C-SPAN has done a ranking of the presidents by “historians” every time a president leaves office since President Bill Clinton left office in 2001. When the rankings came out after President Obama left office I watched interviews some of these “historians” did, where they actually admitted they were going to rank President Trump as the worst president in US history, simply based on their personal dislike of him and not based on his actions as president. Why would anyone consider any “historian” rankings after hearing what some of them said a year or so into the presidency of Donald Trump?
.
The latest rankings by C-SPAN had President Obama as the 10th best president. President Obama is largely ranked this high because of the weight these “historians” give his race. Should President Obama be rated this high in the rankings due to his race? I’ve had a difficult time finding anyone who believes President Obama was our 10th best president.
.
President Trump wasn’t our best president, nor was he among our worst presidents, he’s somewhere in between.
.
Given the way these biased “historians” have ranked the presidents, they likely wouldn’t rank Vice President’s Quayle or Harris as our worst vice president. They’d likely rank Vice President William Rufus DeVane King as our worst vice president because he died of malaria just short of 7 weeks into his term as vice president to President Franklin Pierce. Of the 19 modern vice presidents from Curtis to Harris, “historians” have ranked Vice President Al Gore as the best, followed by Joe Biden, Lyndon Johnson, GHW Bush, and Walter Mondale, while Vice President Spiro Agnew as the worst, with Dan Quayle, Henry Wallace, John Nance Garner, and Albin Barkley rounding out the bottom five. Kamala Harris is ranked 11th and Mike Pence is ranked as 13th. Would you agree with the subjective and biased rankings of our modern vice presidents by “historians?”

13
2

LinR,
What TV show did that all come from?

Your link isn’t working. Why would you believe the opinions of a bunch of selected “historians” giving their biased subjective opinions?

Dan Quayle could speak in intelligible sentences. Also, I don’t remember his VP staff abandoning him right when he took office.

Dan Quayle couldn’t spell potato right. Intelligible sentences? The guy said things that made NO SENSE AT ALL because of how stupid they were. Bush 41 himself even said he regretted having him as his VP.

All Dan Quayle was during Bush 41’s term was an insurance policy.

1
4

LIVING IN REALITY,
.
Vice President Dan Quayle offered to remove himself from the ticket for the 1992 campaign, but President George HW Bush declined that offer.

The spelling bee card was incorrect “POTATOE” give the teachers partial credit for the boner.

1
1

Clayden, You obviously don’t like Kamala, which is your right. I’m not a huge fan, she seems awkward in public, but she is not dumb. disagreeing with someone, has nothing to do with intelligence. I was not a Reagan fan, but NEVER call him dumb. Was not a fan of Quayle, he too was not the best in public, but not sure he is as dumb as many make him out to be. As for historians ranking, historians have their own bias as well, so it depends if you listen to a liberal historians or a conservative one. Some historians are more balanced, I try to listen to several.

2
4

Well heck, . . . . . . . . .
what happens to those millions of filled out ballots with biden’s name on ’em ? ? ?

86
23

You saw the USPS is hiring more people for the general election, didn’t ya? Easy enough to generate new ballots with harris on them. I would find it humorous, to be honest, if they misspelled her name….

31
21

Misspelled her name? Like Killary Clinton-Harris? Kamala Whorrish?

12
13

I think Originl G refers to the primary. CA elected Biden as the dem. candidate. Electors are suppose to cast their votes for him. I guess there is a law that allows the electors to cast votes for anyone. They have pledged their votes to Harris. Casting a vote for Harris is not representing me.

1
1

OLD-SCHOOL GUY,
.
Are you meaning Democratic Party Delegates or Electoral College Electors?

It’s hard to believe that we’ve come to a point where neither the democrats or the republicans have anyone who appears to be even remotely capable of running this country in a responsible manner. American politics has evolved into an embarrassing $hit show.

49
74

Considering how half the country has treated each of our recent Presidents, is it any surprise that only candidates with enormous egos (regardless of actual qualifications) would even want the job?

19
7

Newsom/Thorpe ‘24 !!

3
140

LAZY K,
.
They’re from the same state which would prevent Electors from voting for both of them, as Electors are prohibited from voting for a president and vice president if they’re from the same state.

21
1

The Black Knight

Dont tell Lazy Dem K that … Dems know that they can make their own rules. When the rules no longer suit them, they change them with ‘executive decisions’ to make the effective. The Dems can do whatever they want, so they think.

To our Dems
Hopefully more of you will wake up in California and see the sess pool that Harris and Newscum have created. Let’s be honest, what has Harris accomplished in her almost 4 years as VP?

15
9

I’m afraid of what they have planed. It won’t be good for America!
We are DOOMED if cacklin’ kamala picks hilary clinton for vp.
There was enough morons that voted for it before.

68
30

If she can change her residency in time, I would expect her to pick Gavin Newsom. I don’t know which would be worse.

20
13

CHICKEN LITTLE,
.
Why would you expect her to choose Gavin Newsom? He adds absolutely nothing to the ticket that would help them win the election. She’ll more than likely choose a swing state governor or senator, most likely Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro because the Commonwealth has the most electoral votes of any swing state.

Democrats got robbed again. Democracy=mob rule.
You’ll vote for who they tell you to vote for. The communist party knows what’s best. You will obey your leaders. You don’t matter, only the survival of the party matters. Your votes are trash.
.
VOTE to MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN TRUMP 2024

68
36

Yeah, the same party that would not allow Kennedy to run as a Democrat, they have become nothing more than a real life cartoon $hit show.

21
6

Why do you consider Kennedy a loss?

10

In talking with friends, conversation got around to “Who is running this country?”
That’s real simple, it hasn’t changed,
“I think that what we’re seeing now, is Joe and the administration are essentially finishing the job. And I think it’ll be an interesting test,” Obama explained.
“Ninety percent of the folks who were there in my administration,
they are continuing …”
NY Post interview June 2021.

26
7

Oh no what are we going to do with Biden.
Maybe I should leave the country, I think the sky is falling, Mayday, Mayday……just kidding !!

3
10

Now that Joe has decided to withdraw from the election, I think the Nation better get ready for some insane executive orders and pardons(Hunter?) to finish out his term. I hope I’m wrong. I also think he should step down immediately and let the Nation see what Kamala is all about. I think we know how that will end up. Whatever happens, I think we can expect some level of chaos to ensue but I do believe the democrats are hatching some type of nefarious plan because they’re sneaky that way. In politics, nothing happens by accident (Franklin Roosevelt)

37
14

Not surprised… Harris thinks she’s going to be a shoe-in – but it sounds like others are licking their chops at a chance to take her on…. God forbid Newscum gets anywhere in this … the DNC ought to be popcorn time!

26
8

We wish Kamala all the best. I’m sure she’ll do fine against Trump.

20
41

Pretty sure this has nothing to do with Claycord, J-Lo for President!!!

1
12

I’m sure there are a lot of people here, just like me, that have been telling their die hard, “blue no matter who” friends that Biden was not going to be on the 2024 presidential ticket (me for the last two years). I also informed them that all the lawsuits, prosecutions, uncommitted crimes that were charged as crimes, would also go by the wayside. My feeds are surprisingly quiet. Maybe I should tone down the “I told you so” a little?

Oh, and it ain’t gonna be Kamala on the ticket. Write that down.

35
14

Amen brother. Praise the lord and pass the ammo. MAGA!!!!!

6
15

I have no liberal friends as I can no longer tolerate the liberal insanity. I will soon retire and move to the mountains. Never to set foot in Communist California again. California: Where you can buy schedule 1 controlled drugs openly and legally. But to buy a firearm (A constitutionally protected right) I have to show 3 forms of ID, wait ten days, give fingerprints and be videotaped.

No more liberal BS!!! MAGA!!!!

15
19

Biden’s severance package must be massive.
Alex Soros should finance it, but that will fall straight on the backs of US citizens.
It’s interesting the party that just performed a coup over their current leader also claims to be the champions democracy!
Third world stuff.

30
12

In other words:
“Democracy is………..we choose the President so you don’t have to.”

11
1

The Biden family must be upset that the cash cow with kickbacks from other countries amongst other financial indiscretions will be halted. * see Bob Mendez with gold bars and wads of massive cash found in his home. *see Gavin Newsom with an unaccountable 24 billion tax payers dollars supposedly paying for the homeless. Its still utterly amazing that people actually vote for these shisters!

32
7

FIGHT, FIGHT, FIGHT #TRUMPFOREVER

40
21

It’s a very sad day in History when ANY President of the Unitied States of America is pushed out by the very radicals that have no respect for our Country of his party and did not care whatsoever, as to avoid taking any stand that would alienate their central group of moderate and radical voters. Both parties have to be moderate and unify and they dare not offer creative solutions to problems. They can only support the status quo. The voter has little real choice, but has eyes and ears and must vote and vote early. Ball game’s not over til it’s over.

24
5

Am I the only person who thinks it is odd that Joe hasn’t actually said what his thoughts are about this whole situation. Or why did he drop out of the race. You’d think that something this important to Joe and the nation would get an actual explanation by the main actor in this play. There has been no press conference or interview, no “breaking news” speech from the rose garden explaining Joe’s reasoning.

They continue to hide ‘ol Joe, even after he’s out of the race.

26
6

Joey has severe dementia/alsheimers with sundowners. He can barely remember his name.
They have punctured him with meds from day one. It’s time to clean up his mess and only Trump can do it!

20
12

Trump was the one who got us into a mess. Joe does not have dementia. Where’s the medical document proving he does?

LIVING IN REALITY,
.
What “mess” did President Trump get us into? Are you meaning unemployment and the economy? If so, President Trump only had control over the federal government, it really wouldn’t be fair of you to blame President Trump for unemployment and damage to the economy when many Governors we re the ones who made the decisions to unnecessarily keep their states closed and locked down for months and/or years.
.
To those of us who’ve dealt with family members who’ve suffered from dementia or are suffering from dementia, it sure does appear as though President Biden is suffering from dementia.

Joe doesn’t know what year it is or what planet he’s on.

7
3

THE PROFESSOR,
.
President Joe Biden has wanted to be a 2-term president since he was in college if not earlier, so, they’re giving him time to deal with his anger and depression over being forced out of the 2024 presidential race. He also probably wants to keep a low profile for the next 6 months so that he’s not forced to resign from the presidency.

18
2

So I guess it’s Felon vs Prosecutor now? I still hate both of them.

6
21

Prosecutor. I like it!
Another name for ‘the Swamp Drainer’!

The ruling party and the media has lied to us for nearly 3 years. Remember them scolding us about the mental health of the president? “He’s as sharp as ever!” “Behind closed doors he is amazing” “Biden could do more in one hour than most people could in a full day” LIES! Is this the democracy they say is under attack? The donors will continue to push the direction of the country.

24
10

My comments apply to both sides. And both suck BTW. Not really a democracy in my mind.

1
16

And both sides of the isle are terrible. Money in politics moves the needle. I didn’t hear either candidate talk, why listen to lies.

2
8

It appears to be.

13

Kamala Harris has some basic campaign themes. My favorite: Prosecutor vs. convicted felon. Consumer protector vs. grifter. Lots to work with.

8
26

Communist vs. patriot……..

21
7

How bout
Done Nothing vs Surived Assination Attempt

Can you tell me anything that Harris has done while in office?
1) She did not solve the immigration problem, she just tried to find private entities to hire illegal invaders.
2) She spoke on Abortion rights .. so did lots of other people. So what did she really do there?

23
3

The only thing Kamala has to work with is her ability to move golf balls through garden hoses. Just ask Willie.

14
6

And you know Slick Willy took a shot at that also.

3
1

No reasonably sane human being could possibly believe Harris is even remotely qualified to be President of the United States of America.

3
1

ATTENTION ALL COMMENTERS….Remember…in the abundance of words there does not fail to be transgression, but he who keeps his lips in check is acting sensibly…or in urban slang…”dont talk so much you keep putting your foot in your mouth…be wise and turn off the flow”

4
13

Amen brother. Praise the lord and pass the ammo. MAGA!!!!!

7
20

Remember when Biden picked Kamala as VP? He said “the only qualifications I am looking for is a black female”.

19
1

Your source that proves he said that is what?

4
10

@JWN
In 2020, your pedo-in-chief told Joy Reid he’s considering 4 black women for VP.

No Boomers for President.
Wait…Trump is older than a Boomer.
😱

6
11

JJ,
.
Joe Biden, born in 1942, is from the “Silent Generation,” also known as the “Traditionalist Generation,” and the “Depression Generation.”
.
Donald Trump, born in 1946, is from the first year of the “Baby Boom Generation,” also known as “Baby Boomers,” and “Boomers.”
.
Kamala Harris, born in 1964, is from the last year of the “Baby Boom Generation,” also known as “Baby Boomers,” and “Boomers.”
.
J.D. Vance, born in 1984, is from “Generation Y,” also known as “Gen Y,” and “Millennials.”

20
2

Biden was never President but he thought he was..

17
6

Sort of like how we can say Bush 43 was never President?

2
11

This article should read Jill Biden is out of the presidential race, she’s the one that was pulling the puppet strings.

13
4

She should be charged with Elder abuse.

9
6

Ask Willie Brown.

12
2

No, you are not the only one.
I also wonder why the letter wasn’t on White House letterhead. Perhaps he’s not the one who wrote the letter.

7
5

Sorry – I was replying to The Professor’s question.

3
2

ANCIENT MARINER,
.
My guess is that President Biden’s letter was probably written on personal letterhead and not The White House letterhead because the subject had to do with a political campaign and political party nomineen business, not something exclusively dealing with federal government business. Since he dropped out of the 2024 presidential campaign it would make the most sense that he would write it on personal letterhead or campaign letterhead. Now, if his letter was about him resigning from the presidency, then I would expect him to have written the letter on White House letterhead.

22
1

Thank you Black Knight – yes, that makes sense.

@Ancient Mariner
Dana Perino said this letter will be put in the presidential records and should have been written on White House letterhead, as he said he was putting his focus on fulfilling his duties as President for the remainder of his term, and was therefore speaking as the President of the United States.

On a scale of 1-10, how dumb are you?

2
1

He dropped out on National Ice Cream day! No joke

Your wants higher taxes inflation and high gas prices and war Vote for Kamala you want change vote for Trump

11
7

Both Biden and Harris are about as sharp as an under-inflated basketball.

7
2

JWB,
.
Which polls? I’ve only seen one poll with Vice President Kamala Harris leading former President Donald Trump. Most of the polling that I’ve seen have shown Vice President Kamala Harris’ poll numbers over President Joe Biden to be non-existent to negligible in head to head match ups with former President Donald Trump. MSNBC recently showed four polls with Vice President Kamala Harris leading in one poll.

One poll, Reuters…. Sampling 426 Democrat voters vs. 376 Republicans and 341 Independents.
*
https://vigilantnews.com/post/reuters-shock-poll-finds-kamala-leading-trump-theres-just-one-catch/

4
1

So democrats fearing an impending loss due to low poll numbers look to Nancy Pelosi as their puppet master and they change horses in the middle of the stream and yank Biden from the nominee to the Oval Office, replacing him with giggles. Kamala Harris has been an abject failure in her role as V.P. Her first assignment was being named as boarder czar. We all know her ineptitude with the invasion that followed. VOTE RESPONSIBLY!

9
1

Remember Jack Lemmon as Ensign Pulver in the movie Mr. Roberts?
He was in charge of the ship’s laundry service, but spent all his time hiding in his bunk doing nothing. Every once in a while someone would see him, but would have no idea who he was or what he did.
Kamala Harris is the Ensign Pulver of Vice Presidents.

6
0

@The Fearless Spectator
That’s a good one.

Joe didn’t “drop out” he was pushed!
The Democrat Party is like a Mama Cat that eats her kittens, and all the other cats don’t give a damn.
