Don’t need to, Clayton knows how to negotiate a garbage contract.
Used to pass transfer station daily going to work on weekends especially would see loads dumped on Loveridge Road. Think high fees has allot to do with dumping on our roadways.
Then again there’s Kirker Pass, where free range home furnishings abound.

2 to 3 times a year. Both are good, but Pittsburg is open on Sundays….

About 15 years ago, I went to the Pittsburg dumps to dump a truck load of junk, but I don’t remember how much I paid. When I was a little kid about 10 or 11 growing up in San Francisco, my friends and I used to go to the dumps and rummage around to see what treasures we could find. I found a football, shoulder pads and a helmet that fit me, and the guy let me have it all for six bits. The guy was really cool, he allowed us kids to bring our .22 rifles and 410 shotguns and set up targets so we could practice shooting. In those days, it wasn’t illegal to carry a rifle on the bus, and it was legal to shoot within the city limits on private property. The strict gun laws weren’t enacted until sometime in the lats 60s.

My Dad used to go to the Antioch dump & shoot rats with a .22 Winchester when he was kid.

I’m in the dumps!

Martinez …. very rarely but sure glad it’s there. Prices are high but before taking that on I’d rather take on PG&E, CCWD, gas taxes, bridge tolls, paying to use the freeway we already paid for, dismantling AQMD, all these taxes and bonds being proposed in the next election, etc.

Same. Since the .gov can print money for their other pursuits, why can’t they just print themselves some money and leave the rest of us out of it.

The gov wants your money as a means of control.

Unless something is going on, once or twice a year. It depends on how fast my wife can accumulate BS.

Never Enough July 11, 2024 - 2:29 PM - 2:29 PM

Unfortunately quite a lot, because we get a lot of dumping on our commercial property. Yes we have cameras and yes we have signs and even sometimes go early on the weekends at 5:00 AM to deter.

If I was going to go it would be to the Pittsburg one. Closer than Martinez.

Maybe once a year to the transfer station if I have a home improvement project or project at one of my rental homes.

Dump run(s) to Pittsburg, … for sure once a year. Don’t have much junk items.
Might do swap-meet with vintage goodies from here soon.

idiots everywhere July 11, 2024 - 3:48 PM - 3:48 PM

I’ve been going to Martinez for over 50 years but it was more exciting before it became a transfer station.

I”d go every chance I got back in the day. I had my Dodge Truck. I’d love to take my SUV out there, but not feasible. Pittsburgh is where I always went, but unfortunately seven out of ten times I’d come back with a nail in one of the tires. Hubby would go never came back with a nail, go figure. I like going, love older trucks even now, but having to now pay these guys to load is costly like everything else.

Martinez and Pittsburg are dumps. Sorry..’Just say’n

Oh Brother July 11, 2024 - 5:22 PM - 5:22 PM

Prob 5 times a year in Pittsburg. The price going to either of the two is ridiculous. I would never in a million years dump anything on the side of the rd, but there is no question in my mind that the price at the dump is the reason why people do. I guess the cost of paying a crew with a huge truck and tractor to clean up the roads is more cost saving than just lowering the price to dump legally.

About twice a year to Martinez. I usually pay about $45 for a suv trunk full with household items. I did called a hauling company to dump a couch and love seat..wow..$160.00 a few years ago. That was the cheapest. No wonder why people just dump on side of road.

Well Folks July 12, 2024 - 8:33 AM - 8:33 AM

I used the dump once as after my dad dies I would have to find a truck to use. Called 1-800-Got-Junk when moving and for $200 got rid of a bunch of stuff. Worth the price
The thing I found very handy was the House Hold Chemical Disposal that Central San runs. Load up the trunk of the car with old paint, unused cleaning and yard products take them out to Central San to dispose of. They unloaded the items and most of the times I was there less than 10 minutes

Reality says… July 12, 2024 - 8:42 AM - 8:42 AM

Few times a year, but on the way to the Loveridge station I just decide to stop on Kirker Pass at the top of the hill and just throw all my sh@t on the side of the road like all the other POS who do it.

In the past 2 months I have been there 5 times to dump stuff from our remodel. TWICE I see “Juan’s Hauling” dumping their trash in the side of the road at 7am. WTF is wrong with people – the lack of decency and class just continues to disappoint me.

Wow…… This question turned out to be a real assh*le magnet!
If all these roadside dump confessions are real that is….. you guys seem real proud of yourselves.

Dr Jellyfinger July 13, 2024 - 10:57 AM - 10:57 AM

Try putting all the crap on your driveway with a sign that says “FREE” and follow that up with a free Craigslist add in the Free Stuff column. A bunch of Vietnamese guys will show up and take it all away. Really, try it.

Cowellian July 13, 2024 - 12:29 PM - 12:29 PM

On Cowell, the sign should say FYEE
