It’s crap. They need to take all of the DEI/CRT/LG etc crap out of the schools. FIRE all of the woke politically activist teachers. Drag queen story hour needs to be banned and they should be jailed. Let them get sorted out in prison.

Get back to the basics. History, reading, writing and arithmetic.

The schools need Civic classes. Practical classes that teach students about spending, taking care of a home. Classes that teach manners and how to behave and dress in polite society.

It’s garbage. Leftists woke propaganda. The kids get dumber and dumber. Instead, let’s make sure the kids can read, write, do math, and think.

The California school system is 47th in the nation. Yeah, three for the bottom. That’s not good. They are doing a poor job….. and….they refuse to change away from thier failed ways. Like Mike said above, they are too indoctrinated in their woke ways.

carter signed legislation creating U.S. Department of Education DOE which began operating May 1980, it’s been down hill ever since. An that was decades before ‘Lean Forward’.
Your kids aren’t yours. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EgWcBV9_kLM
.
On top of teaching kids how to pass government tests, now there’s woke indoctrination and a fascination with chemical, physical and mental mutilation of children.
These dangerous practices, indoctrination and propaganda won’t stop until DEMs are voted out, at all levels of government.

Calif used to be in the top 5 of the country – now in the bottom 5… Newscum being in the back pocket of the teachers union doesn’t help…. Clif teachers , administrators, etc are among the highest paid of the country, the $$ per student spending is among the highest in the country … how is the Calif education system? corrupt, leaderless, mismanaged, teacher expectations have been dumbed down, teacher thresholds have been lessened waaaaay too far, students have been dumbed down in general – and is apparently ok with our legislators. Private or strict charter schools seem the only way to get a good education for kids these days in Calif.

What do you expect? Our kids are predominately taught by “Education Majors” When I was in school in Oakland in the 60’s, 70’s, and early 80’s none of my Teachers was an “Education” major. That’s all you have as teachers today. I took some classes in the early 2000’s at CSUEB and all the “Education” majors were dummies. You want to improve the schools? Get rid of the “Education” majors who go along to get along.

Parent seem to expect teachers to not only teach their kids and be the kids substitute parents as well. The system is falling apart trying to be everything that everyone else expects of them. I’m all for giving less money to professional sports and stadiums and more to the schools teachers and facilities. When the state is parceling out school funds it should not be based on how many days or hours the kid attends but on how many kids are registered. It would also help if the system would let parents request a child be held back because they haven’t learned what the grade teaches (supposedly). Instead of telling the parent they can’t hold back a kid because they aged out.

Dorothy
I have never asked for a teacher to be a substitute parent nor a babysitter. Quit trying to put words in my mouth. I would hate for most of these teachers to become substitute parents for my kids or other kids – the morals are different. As for the babysitter … nah, again, don’t need that either form them

I really only have one simple request, do the job you were hired to do – just like every other profession.

I don’t have any views on our education system because I outgrew it years ago, and my daughter has already graduated.
So, to quote Rhett Butler, “frankly, my dear, I don’t give a damn.”

Our kids are grown and out of school as well but what’s happening with the Mt Diablo School District is quite interesting. Check out the EastBay Times today.

One word…”Equity” “appeal to the lowest common denominator”. foe Gods sake stop feeling sorry for the ones that do not want to learn and reward merit. Yes there are people that will fall behind but there should be programs for that “there used to be, they called it special education” but the entire class should not have to fall to that level simply because we don’t want to offend someone. so stupid…..

Let’s ask Mr. Newsom…. He wouldn’t let his exceptional brats go public. What does that tell you. you can find him at the French Laundry 1ith thousand dollar bottles of wine, while we can’t even afford all his restaurant surcharges..

USNEWS.COM says CA. is 37th best states overall.

Our Daughter graduated in 2000 so I am a bit behind the time(s).
She had great teachers and did a bit of home-schooling and grad with Honors
But, still I, I’m not in favor how things are for the youth.
Since Covid, I think we all got an eye opener of what was going on in the classrooms.
It’s gotten worse. The woke is a joke, and our kids go thought phases, … sex change, hold off!!

They can’t be that bad, after all, our Governor claims California is the blueprint for the nation! In other words, the dumber kids are, the better. Doesn’t sound like much of a plan for success, does it?
It hasn’t occurred to these people that education, not propaganda, contributes more to long term human sustainability than the elimination of plastic straws.

I love when you all discuss education. CRT and its cousins always come up along with woke educators brainwashing students. We don’t teach any CRT, we have students for an hour a day and we can’t get them to do anything they don’t want to do, let alone any beliefs that they hold. If we can, they you all need to spend more time talking to your kids and not vomiting on your keyboards on this site.

As a teacher in California for almost 25 years, I can tell you that the tests students take today are way more complex than the tests previous generations took. It is no longer memorization and regurgitation of dates and places.

But hey. I get it. All you all like to sit on this space and spew the “get off my front lawn vibe.” It’s comical. And appreciated.

You are Funny
I just spoke with teachers last week at a local high school who were discussing the equity and diversity requirements …. And how they are now required to do everything to pass every student … despite a child getting caught drinking, stealing, assault all on the school complex. All of that … and the child still can play in school sports and participate in dances, school activities, graduation and everything else.

So you keep spouting that it is harder for students today … the only thing harder is keeping up with the wind changes the MDUSD teachers union follows.

My kids tell me what is happening in the classroom – it’s funny! Nothing is graded, things can be turned in 3-4 WEEKS late and still get full credit.

Thanks for the laugh!
