Construction on the new Argent apartment complex off Port Chicago Hwy. in between Willow Pass Rd. and Concord Blvd. is moving along nicely.

The complex will feature 181 units with 182 parking stalls. 20 of the units will be set aside for affordable housing.

Planning started on this complex in 2016, and construction started in 2023.

Oh joy, more high density housing.
Lets hope in decades going forward CPD will be able to keep crime down to a dull roar.
Then again this is liberal crime coddling CoCo county.
.
Anyone see a problem with 182 parking stalls for 181 units and just where are couples with two cars supposed to park their second vehicle, in Safeway parking lot ? ? Given lack of available on street parking in that area and only 182 parking stalls kinda appears city FUBAR-ed it, once again.
Parking will become a nightmare for 2nd, 3rd street residents as well as tree streets residences.

You don’t get the point. Apartment complex is near BART and the transit center. It’s for people who mostly take public transit NOT dual car households.

ORIGINAL G,
.
It’s the fault of the State of California because the state keeps taking away local control and reducing the amount of required parking spaces per unit to decrease costs for developers and encourage high-density housing development.
.
A few years ago, at a Concord Planning Commission meeting, one of Concord’s Planning Commissioners responded to residents who were complaining about the lack of parking at a proposed high-density housing project, by saying what are we going to do in ten years with all of these EMPTY parking garages, because he believes individual vehicle ownership will be gone by the end of this decade.

really surprised no one has burned it down, maybe we are actually moving forward. Still have to fall back on them saying the population is not increasing yet there is a housing shortage????? must be that new math.

Just what we don’t want, high rise, high density, more traffic, and lack of adequate infrastructure to support it … (water, power, sewer, schools, roads, etc)

section 8 wont care, but also, high rent just means more tenants per bedroom, like one family in each

i believe this will result in the closing of Willow Pass Safeway.for the same reason Monument Safeway/Lunardis closed.Everything in the store was stolen. They will pack up and move a year after the apartments that are pre rented already are occupied

All the NIMBYs in here are the reason why housing costs so much. Complaining about more housing when this state needs it is ridiculous

CHRIS,
.
Yet, Concord’s population continues to decline.

Bulangio Pulatio May 18, 2024 - 7:44 PM - 7:44 PM

Why are all towns and municipalities obsessed with forcing developers with afordable units?

Bub May 19, 2024 - 2:51 PM - 2:51 PM

So much for the feel of quaint Concord and all the history. What’s with all the high rises? Pretty soon they’ll want to (which they’ve mentioned many times) get rid of the airport because the high rises have caused a air hazard waiting to happen. So BS.

Affordable housing here and across from the police department?!?! Listen we all know that the Bay Area is super expensive. It is not a right to live in a specific place, it’s a privilege. The answer is maybe people should move to another city, town, state that you can afford. That is what I would do, would I like it probably not in the beginning, but I would have a better quality of life. That’s what people did back in the day and maybe that’s why you could actually drive the speed limit on a freeway and not roll 5-10 mph all the way home every night.
