I remember being in that canal when I was a kid, helping my buddy round up some of his mallard ducklings that escaped and could not get out of the canal (that stretch is only a few feet deep …… he lived on Amberwood and raised ducks).
Remember those old fliers that said “There are no fish in the canal”? Total lie, it was full of small stripers and an occasional catfish back in the 60’s anyway.
I’m surprised the canal was not built with ramps every so often so that deer and other creatures can get out. Ramps would simplify maintenance because at present they need a large crane to lower Bobcats into the canal when they do the winter cleaning. The cement liner is too steep to climb. People who end up in the canal also discover there are no handholds. The ladders are very far apart. The canal was built long before the housing subdivisions meaning at the time there was room to carve out ramps.
We had a deer run into the baseball fields at YVHS today. Same deer?
Poor baby. Coming down from the hills? Looking forward to a follow up.
Climate Crisis!!!

Bambi!
Look again city boy….. that little guy is sporting antlers.
Can’t blame him for trying to cool off. Might want to drink bottled water for awhile 😉
Where is a deer going to get bottled water?
