I would really hate to see JCPenney be lost.
They have a lot of good items at good value. They’ve got very stylish and good clothes also.
Sears deserve to go under with how bad they had gotten. But pennies is still holding things up pretty good and I want to see them succeed!

Lunardi’s Market
Obviously Macy’s, since I work there, so that would be personal to me. I would be fine if they closed, I have other income and I could retire, I’m past retirement age, but I like to keep busy, right now I work about 25 hours a week. However, I would feel bad for my co workers, several are friends. Besides that I have always shopped at Macy’s (other stores in the past as well) and would continue to do so even if I don’t work there. I would miss Trader Joe’s and Cost Plus, I don’t go to these store every week, but they have items other stores don’t, so when I go I stock up. Also Half Price Books and Barnes and Noble, I do buy some books on Amazon, but still like to browse in a real store.
Ace Hardware. The store is one of the few places anymore that feels real: you can go in and put together what you need for projects, browse through kitchen basics, find a nice cast iron pot, canning jars in different sizes; find some tomato seedlings, flowers and the like.
And workers there that are helpful and that know the hardware business.

I agree with Badge1104, Penny’s is one of the last department stores with satisfactory quality and prices. Other businesses I liked, are already gone. Mervyn’s, CC Ole’s. Radio Shack, and The Screw Shop. There aren’t even any small auto parts stores left, now we’re stuck with the garbage they sell at O’Reilly’s and Auto Zone. Until recently, Monument Auto Parts sold quality parts at reasonable prices, now they are selling cheap parts too. It’s too bad that Sears is on its last foot, at one time they had the best products money can buy. Craftsman tools, Kenmore, and Die Hard were at the top of their game, now they are so below average that I will not miss them when they’re gone. Heck, sometimes I even miss K-Mart.
I’ve found that Napa auto parts at 2560 N Main St, Walnut Creek, CA generally has pretty good quality parts.
