The Ada County (Idaho) Sheriff’s Office says former Pleasant Hill Police Officer Deputy Tobin Bolter has died after being shot during a traffic stop on Saturday.
Deputy Bolter was an officer for seven years and had been with the Ada County Sheriff’s Office since January. He had also served with the Meridian Police Department and Pleasant Hill Police Department, according to the Sheriff’s Office.
A suspect has been taken into custody, however, his name hasn’t been released at this time.
The suspect is currently in custody at the Ada County morgue.
I feel how weak and fruitless must be any words of mine which should attempt to beguile you from the grief of a loss so overwhelming. But I cannot refrain from tendering to you the consolation that may be found in the thanks of the Republic they died to save.
I pray that our Heavenly Father may assuage the anguish of your bereavement, and leave you only the cherished memory of the loved and lost, and the solemn pride that must be yours to have laid so costly a sacrifice upon the altar of Freedom.

Only in Idaho, that would make any sense. It’s not the appropriate nor relevant comment for fallen officer.
So sad. Sorry for your loss.
Yeah, let’s ignore out of control violent crime in Democrat run urban cesspools all over America. 🙄
Ada County, Idaho is overwhelmingly Republican. I’ll bet Boise does not consider itself an “urban cesspool.”
KJA,
.
Ada County is so “overwhelmingly Republican” that the former Boise Chief of Police lost his race for Mayor of Boise to the sitting Democrat Mayor, 12 of the 18 Democrats in the Idaho State Legislature represent Ada County, and President Joe Biden lost Ada County by just over 10,000 votes or just under 4.00%. Yes, you are correct, Boise doesn’t consider itself an “urban cesspool,” but most of the rest of the state does.
From Associated Press- “Boise police found the shooting suspect’s vehicle unoccupied about a half hour after the shooting, and found a man believed to be the suspect outside a home, Boise Police Chief Ron Winegar said.”
“ Shortly after midnight the man fired at officers, and one officer returned fire and shot him, Winegar said. The officers gave him aid but he was pronounced dead after being taken to a hospital, he said.”
RIP Deputy Bolter

Psalm 116:15.
Have known Tobin and his parents for over 22 years now.
Such a fine young man. Very sad.
My deepest sympathy to his loved ones…
I’m so sad and sorry. 😪
The brave and selfless men and women, (police and military) who gave their lives so the rest of us can live, are to be commemorated.
My prayers go out to his family.
This is so heartbreaking. Besides being an honorable policeman, Tobin was also a former cross country coach at his alma mater, Berean Christian. He was the kind of coach you want your kids to have. He was a mentor for all of his students, not just in athletic pursuits, but, also with how he lived his life. He loved God and others and his life showed that.
Why. Why, why ? Why does something as simple as a traffic stop have to result in the death of a young man in his prime? What has happened to our society when individuals think it’s OK to end someone’s life over a traffic ticket? Sad, I hope the pendulum has swung as far as its going to swing the evil zone and will begin its swing back to civility once again. RIP, Officer, Godspeed and prayers and condolences to the loved ones.
Praying for his family and also himself keep him in his arm. Thank you for being brave protecting the community and the safety of peoples. 🙏🙏
May his family ,friends and co workers feel his courage and the peace he is at now.
God Bless this young man with the sparkling smile,
My deepest sympathies to the family of this fine man.
Such a tragedy. It has been haunting me since I heard on Sunday morning. Many local east bay families are devastated by this loss. He was truly the real deal, a wonderful young man beloved by all who knew him. His wife /widow is expecting their first child. If you are moved by this, there are at least opportunities to show tangible financial support. I’ve heard the sheriff’s department (Ada County, Idaho) is accepting donations toward his widow plus another officer injured in a car accident while rushing to respond to the shooting–you can turn up more about that via Google search. Locally, Berean Christian High School is coordinating a fundraiser with all proceeds to go to his widow, via the opportunity to purchase a shirt in Tobin’s honor, with option to add an additional donation beyond the shirt purchase (he was a beloved graduate of Berean plus he and his wife served as XC and Track coaches at the school for several seasons before moving out of state):
