The following is from the Concord Police Department:
On Tuesday, March 26, the Concord Police Department will be collaborating with Concord High School for the Every 15 Minutes (E15M) program. E15M challenges students to think about impaired driving and the responsibility of good decision making by offering real-life experience without real-life risks. A simulated fatal DUI traffic collision will be viewable on school grounds by 11th and 12th grade students. First Responders will treat “injured” student participants, which will also involve transport to the hospital via REACH helicopter.
Do NOT BE ALARMED BY THE SIRENS and high volume of emergency vehicles at the school. The realistic mock collision will allow students to experience first-hand, the sensations of being involved in a tragic, alcohol-related and texting while driving fatal collision. The CCC Coroner’s Office will handle fatalities on the scene, while the injured students will be extricated by the jaws-of-life operated by firefighters and paramedics. Police Officers will investigate, arrest, and book the student “drunk driver.”
The following day, a mock funeral will take place in the auditorium of Concord High School.
Good opportunity to also teach them about distracted driving as well as the dangers of speeding. Unfortunately many at that age consider themselves invincible. It my not hit home immediately, but plant the seeds now and maybe you can save some.

Distracted driving back in my days at CHS was seeing how far you could run your hand up the leg of the girl sitting beside you….boy, things have changed since the 60s/70s.
