Concord Housing Forum And Housing Element Progress Report Scheduled For March 26

Are you interested in learning more about the status of housing in Concord? You’re invited to listen and participate in the City’s report out on its implementation of the first year of the 2023-2031 Housing Element.

On Tuesday, March 26, the City Council will be hearing an update on the City’s progress toward constructing new housing and the implementation of various programs to address the housing needs of all current and future residents.

At the Housing Forum, the Community Development Department will present:

  • A review of the City’s progress in meeting our housing goals, including a summary of local efforts toward assistance, rehabilitation, construction, and preservation of housing;
  • A summary of General Plan Housing Element programs and their implementation status;
  • A summary of recently completed and proposed General Plan and Development Code amendments; and
  • The City’s next steps for program implementation during 2024 to further the goals and objectives of the Housing Element.

Why is it cities don’t look at ownership of properties, specifically foreign money buying up properties.
Vancouver BC put in a 15 % transfer tax to discourage foreign buyers who were pricing Canadians out of the housing market.

Because they don’t work for us

Concord should keep building multi story apartments until you can’t see the sun and the stars anymore. That will be the legacy the council has to live with.

Landlords and developers will will avoid like the plague having rentals in Concord, given its newly imposed rental restrictions which disallow making a profit or having any control of their rental property
