@WHENWILLTHEYLEARN….No, it was a dark bar on the southwest corner of Clayton and Alberta. No windows with just a front door and a round blue neon sign on front. I believe it was owned by one of the Enean family. It was a scary looking place as it stood by itself and nothing but a field around it in the 60s and before.
Wish I could have seen Concord back in those days. My first visit here was to Sun Valley Mall when it was new and had those huge bird cages goi g between the floors with Doves?
Concord sounds like it was a nice place to grow up without a building on EVERY last bit of open spaces. I’m in Dana Estates and can see (still) the now scattered rows of Almond trees (we lost ours 6 years ago). Thanks for yet another vivid memory of Concord!!
@E.BUNNERS..…You’re welcome. I think Sun Valley Mall was the beginning of the end to Concord being a small rural town. It took a few years but things to me started changing in a large way about then. Not that it was a bad thing, just inevitable. I loved growing up in Concord, to me no better place to grow up.
There was a gas station on the south west corner ,across the street from lucky, with a field behind it,where apartments are now. This when YV road ended at Alberta way.
On the northwest corner there was a building that stood alone with a field behind it before the shopping center was built.Look like a dive bar.Where Kelly Moore is and that street its on was 1 mans property that multiple houses were built on and that lot was empty for decades till Kelly Moore built it and didnt stay long.Like alot of businesses in Concord, they see this is not a very profitable city anymore.
Seriously though, I’m not sure what we *need* in this area – with OSH, Ross, Dollar store, CVS, etc. all so close-by, and the space not big enough for a K-Mart or Target style store, this is a great question!

Water purification pills, MRE’s tents, generators, ammunition, alarm systems, radios, etc.
The way PG&E is screwing us we might have to learn to live on minimal electricity & gas.
Earthquakes, fires, crime, lots of reasons to be prepared.

Please let it be Church’s Texas Chicken. I don’t want to go to Oakland for church’s chicken anymore.
In my experience in Calif, they only build Churches chicken in very bad nieghborhoods or”hoods”
This means it will eventually come to Concord, just like Popeyes did.
Concord is going the same direction as the state and country due to same non leadership

It’s a weird location next to houses. For years it was a vacant seasonal Christmas tree lot. Always thought it was odd they moved from next to K-Mart to that location.
It could easily become a vet hospital, reality or insurance office or anything that doesn’t require a lot of parking. It has–I’m guessing about 10 parking spaces?
Looks like a good veterinarian building.Very odd parking lot.
That huge ugly gate was installed to stop campers and the oldest profession from loitering in the parking lot i’m guessing.

We are missing a few things with that building size out here.
– Quick self-checkout grocery like Fresh & Easy, open late, well stocked, well lit, not
– Good non-private-equity-owned casual restaurant, perhaps breakfast or seafood focused
– ebike rental excursions for the canal trail, like Pedego in Livermore
– Coffee/desserts that has good food, actual seating and lets you linger a little
No more hobby stores, we already have to suffer the embarrassment of hosting a Hobby Lobby lol
Harbor Freight?
Kelly-Less paints. Yuk yuk
Bring back Sil’s Bar.
Was that a building in Lucky’s parking lot?

Olive Garden is trash nowadays, the last 2-3 years at least. We really dont want them in the area.
And gun range too.
Corn snake petting zoo.

Very weird property, not much parking. That excludes a lot of businesses.
A hobby shop.
A cannabis shop.
How about a hobby/cannabis shop

You can bet they will need a security guard sitting there every night so it doesnt get striiped of copper wire and pipes
