Scumball Alert! Police Arrest Two People For Leaving Child In Running Car While Stealing From Contra Costa Home Depot

Hercules police arrested two would-be thieves earlier this week for alleged child endangerment, drugs and weapons violations after searching their vehicle and one of the suspect’s homes.

Police were called to Home Depot at 4:24 p.m. Monday for a theft in progress.

Officers contacted the pair of suspects as they were leaving the store and headed toward their vehicle, which was parked in a handicapped spot with an infant left alone in the still-running Chevy Cruz.

Officers recognized them, one of whom they knew was on felony probation for robbery. During a vehicle search, officers found large quantities of marijuana allegedly packaged for sales and promethazine with no prescription label.

Police arrested both suspects on suspicion of drug violations and child endangerment. A family member responded to the scene and took custody of the child.

Police then conducted a probation search of one of the suspect’s Hercules residence. They allegedly found a larger quantity of marijuana as well as an unregistered Micro Draco Assault Weapon, and an unregistered pistol.

Both suspects were booked into Martinez Detention Facility on various firearm, marijuana and child endangerment allegations, police said.

District attorney Becton is on the record saying that she will not prosecute property crimes of less than $950 that are done out of need… so there’s the answer of what’s going to happen to them.

In this instant case, however, there are felony child endangerment, weapons and drug charges on top of the theft charges. And a violation of felony probation. This cries out for continuing detention and full prosecution.

Yet they are already out on probation…. So I doubt they take the “law” seriously or worry about any consequences. Why should they, this same story repeats itself over and over all throughout this state every single day, and multiple times a day. Criminals don’t worry about “charges”, they just go free, unless they murder someone and even that doesn’t mean prison time.

The Observer February 21, 2024 - 5:14 PM - 5:14 PM

I’m surprised that some other criminal didn’t jump in their car and drive off, since they left it running.

The REAL SCUMBAGS are the FRAUDULANTLY ELECTED politicians who let them come across the border into our cities and also let all the felons out of prison during scamdemic! You will reap what you sow. All you witches and evildoers who are behind this agenda will face God’s most harshest judgement!

Scumball: A contemptible or despicable person, often characterized by immoral or dishonest behavior.

Scumbag: A person who is despicable or contemptible bum, crumb, dirty dog, git , lowlife , puke, rat, rotter, skunk, stinker, stinkpot, a person who is not pleasant or agreeable.

Take your pick.

The “micro Draco assault weapon” is a scary thing. You can hide it under your jacket and then open up 30 rounds. Glad that’s off the street. Unreal.

It’s scary to you, because you have a knee jerk reaction when the government labels something as an assault weapon. To most people though, it’s just a small semi auto with a 30 round clip.

Ok. So you aren’t glad it’s off the streets. Good for you bud.

I think the point is, why this firearm being “off the streets” is any more significant than any other firearm with illegal capacity (in California) being confiscated?

Dr. Jellyfinger February 24, 2024 - 3:21 PM - 3:21 PM

As a matter of fact anyone who is halfway familiar with their semi automatic or bolt action firearm should be able to change magazines within 2 or 3 seconds. 3 – 10 round magazines would be preferable to one bulky/heavy 30 round magazine IMHO. Geez…. how about a little fire discipline?

Aunt Barbara February 21, 2024 - 9:46 PM - 9:46 PM

Another little child saved from growing up to be a messed up burden on society,,,, hopefully!

Hmmm, gun laws are in place to prevent people from having those type of weapons. Oh, right, criminals don’t care about laws. But the politicians will keep making them., so they can say they are making a difference!

It seems that all the criminals they catch with illegal guns and drugs have been arrested before or are on probation. If criminals were put in prison like they should be our streets would be safe and crime would be shocking instead of normal everyday life like it is today.
Two questions, why do our politicians want more criminals on the street to prey on and assault innocent citizens and why do we the people keep voting them back into office?

MovingOutOfCA February 23, 2024 - 1:30 AM - 1:30 AM

“We” don’t keep voting these politicians into office. Not everyone votes for the liberal agenda here in CA. Hopefully soon the people will start voting differently and we can see change in this state. It will take a long time, however I am hopeful.

With that kind of gun isn’t it a federal case then.

Rollo Tomasi February 22, 2024 - 1:43 PM - 1:43 PM

Why would it be federal jurisdiction? That firearm is perfectly legal in most states in the US, just not here in the land of fruits and nuts.

Let’s also ask what is meant by “an unregistered pistol. ” as pistols are not required to be “registered” in California. Yet.

If you sat down and tried to write how many criminal offenses you could commit all at the same time, this might be hard to beat. ‘Murica 😉
