I have to say, last time I was at OG, I could not get enough of the salad. Breadsticks were different than I recall (from I think the late 1980s-early 1990s), still delicious, but just not as good.

Hard to say favorite restaurant, more appropriate to say restaurants, since we base decision on desired cuisine. Do not go out to eat often, too expensive and we make just as good, but lately been favoring Eureka, great place for burgers. When we decide to go back to heart healthy, will probably return to Chopan Kebab (best Tandoori fish I have ever had, anywhere).

Anyone know good Italian? very sad Rocco’s has gone so far downhill, was so convenient. The live music is horrific. no acoustics, ears ring for hours. plus the food is carelessly prepared.
Prices up….Quality down.
Original Joes might do well when it arrives.

For breakfast, the best is Country Waffles, in Clayton
For good Mexican food, La Tapatia, Willow Pass across from Park & Shop in Concord
For Italian, Luna, in Concord, consistently good, but could use a menu update
For good Happy Hour and Early Bird menu, Wence’s in Pleasant Hill. $20 for 3 course dinner. Good service, consistent quality.

After the Newscum scandal I refer to it as the French Toilet. Yuk yuk.
Applebee’s!! I SO MISS IT!! Was a great place to go with friends for birthdays and stuff!!
The Barn in Bridgeport (best guacamole burger ever)
Roxx on Main in Martinez for a nice local evening out
Real upscale: Quince in SF
El Torito. Damn I miss it. The ice tea was bomb.
Best Chinese: Oceania in Amsterdam, local is Uncle Yu’s in Livermore (slightly better than the one in Lafayette IMHO).
La Veranda in Clayton for Italian
El Camino in Brentwood for Mexican
County Waffles in Clayton for breakfast
Buttercup Pantry for all around American
Mangia Bene in Martinez. Excellent menu, great service. Our family favorite for 30+ years.
