The Contra Costa County Board of Supervisors is looking for people who would like to be on the advisory panel for the half-cent sales tax that funds the county’s programs.
The Measure X Community Advisory Board was established following the passage in November 2020 of Measure X.
Supervisors said Wednesday they seek “diverse representation from individuals with broad experience with programs that align with the measure’s voter-approved purpose.”
The goal of voter-approved Measure X is “to keep Contra Costa’s regional hospital open and staffed; fund community health centers, emergency response; support crucial safety-net services; invest in early childhood services; protect vulnerable populations; and for other essential county services.”
The main responsibilities of the Measure X Community Advisory Board “are providing input on the scope and methodology of the regular written assessment of community needs and priorities.”
It’s also meant to use “the assessment findings to develop general funding priorities to be recommended to the Board of Supervisors on Measure X net revenues available for allocation.”
Its last responsibility is “receiving annual status reports on the implementation, milestones, impact, and outcomes of Measure X-funded programs.”
Appointments for seven at-large and five at-large alternate seats will be considered by the Board of Supervisors finance committee, with public interviews scheduled at 9:30 a.m. March 4.
Applications can be submitted at https://bit.ly/3HBD7xW and are due by 5 p.m. Feb. 23.
The BoS doesn’t listen to the members of this advisory board, so I don’t recommend you waste your time. Just look at the past recommendations of this advisory board and then the actions of the BoS, there is very little in common.
Like the old saying goes…”Never give advice: Wise men don’t need it and fools don’t heed it.” Since they obviously need the advice (they are asking and interviewing persons to provide it), you can tell whether they are wise or fools.
They’re just looking for approval for what they are doing…. just like what WC does in getting citizen advisory committees together to supposedly “oversee” actions the city is taking … makes it look like they are doing the right thing but it’s all for show

Passed 3 years ago. Did they close? Hell no voters fooled again.
