Who remembers the old Blockbuster Video in the City of Clayton? It was located in the Clayton Station shopping center (Safeway shopping center) on the corner of Clayton Rd. and Washington Blvd.

Before it was Blockbuster, it was The Wherehouse Music and Video Store.

It’s now a credit union.

Did you know? There is only one Blockbuster Video left in the entire World. It’s in Bend, Oregon. At one point in time, Blockbuster had over 9,000 stores.

When I was 8, my brother made me walk up to the cashier and ask if they rented “Any copies of Girls Gone Wild”…I remember that place fondly. 🙂

Yep. Rented all the “Jaws” movies there when my young ‘un got a bad flu, and we watched them all, one after the other.

Miss those days. I loved working at Blockbuster and seeing a lot of milfs on a Friday night.

Every weekend be kind, rewind.

I didn’t like Blockbuster much because it was too “mass market” or “plastic”. I found the independent shops and a few chains that had some of the indie and foreign films. There is quite a nostalgia these days for 80’s movie when VHS reigned. Probably because back then even if it was low budget the movies were done by people who knew how to make films. Look at the drek they are offering for streaming because of the drought the pandemic and strike brought: the great opportunity for people with no talent to show that they couldn’t make a movie.

Who remembers Dave’s hotdog on the other side of the parking lot? He had the best fries hands down! Real fries with a little but of skin on it. And my mom would get her lotto there too. Dave was a nice guy who gave us some free fries because we were there alot.

It was a dump. Almost everything in that 1980s plaza is crusty.

I used to love going into Blockbuster to rent DVDs and checking out the new releases. I miss those days cruising around town jamming to my 8 tracks in the Gremlin.

Really should be “Who remembers The Warehouse” which was there before Blockbuster. Lots of good memories browsing at “The Warehouse” over the years.

Blockbuster! Wow that brings back some memories…. all the great times I had there.
strolling down the aisles checking titles…. the out of stock disappointments & the occasional joys of finding in stock items I was actually looking for.
Making special 100 mph trips to return a movie on time & avoid late charges…. the good old drop box….(sigh)
“Be kind – rewind”
All those old memories come flooding back to me now, along with the heartache and depression of knowing that I can never relive those days again.
Now why don’t we all remember 1/4 Lb’er on Clayton Road? Gone for good…see if we can push me to the edge till I call suicide hotline.

Sometimes a hotline is a good call, Jellyfinger. I, too, have a lot of nostalgia for bygone times. I feel lucky to have good memories, and I try to remind myself of the funny and ridiculous ones, and have a laugh. YouTube comedy, a call to a friend, engrossing books, and staying busy with projects and people also help when I hear the past calling a little too strongly. By the way, I remember when the 1/4 Pounder opened. Sincerely, “California Boomer Toad”

I may still owe a late fee.

I had to think for a sec what Blockbuster even was, seems so long ago. Like CompUSA or pubic hair.

Heck! I remember Security Pacific Bank across the street!
