The following is from the Contra Costa CHP:
Solo vehicle fatal crash near Martinez.
At approximately 1109 hours on Sunday (1/21/24) CHP Contra Costa was advised of a crash on Wolcott Lane and Franklin Canyon Road near Martinez.
Our preliminary investigation indicates that the driver and the two passengers were traveling on a Canam Utility task Vehicle (UTV) down a wet and muddy road. The driver was unable to safely negotiate a turn and crashed into a chain link fence. The driver was later pronounced deceased on scene. There were no injuries to the passengers.
During the on scene investigation, it was determined the driver was not properly wearing their seatbelt.
