Trump only garnered 51% of Iowa Caucus votes. That means nearly half of the GOP in Iowa want someone else to be their nominee.

In the 2020 Iowa Democratic Caucus, Joe Biden garnered 13.7% of the votes. I guess that means 86.3% of Democratic voters in Iowa voted for someone other than Joe Biden in the 2020 general election? My apologies for presenting facts.

Trump’s legal issues will prevent him from running. So its going to be Haley or Desantis on the Republican ticket. If its Haley, she will choose Christy as VP. No clue who Desantis would choose.
On the Dem side, once its determined that Trump won’t be on the ticket, that will open things up for Biden to step down and I think it will actually be Newsom stepping up.

If they eliminate Trump (by whatever means) then Joe Biden will not need to step down. In fact they will keep him as they don’t want a President who has the audacity to believe they are in charge.

This is nothing new, this has been the same process since the 2008 presidential primary cycle. It’s legal because the political parties get to choose if they want an open primary or closed primary, the Democrats chose an open presidential primary and the Republicans chose a closed presidential primary. Decline to State voters are supposed to know what they’re doing when they register Decline to State.
