QUESTION: In your opinion, what is the worst freeway to drive on in the East Bay?
Talk about it….
ALL of them. Worst roads in America. They tried to fix hiway 4 from Concord to Pittsburg. I hope they’re not done with it. My 13 year old grandson can finish concrete better than they did.
880 Between Downtown Oakland and Coliseum
They are all equally bad in this area, California has other priorities & making the citizens lives better most certainly isn’t one of them.
Depends on the day & time.
Sundays, EB US101/I-80 from Cesar Chavez to the foot of the Bay Bridge
Weekdays, WB Hwy 37 for the morning commute and EB 37 afternoon commute btwn US101 and I-80
Weekdays, NB I-680 between Mission Blvd and Sunol, afternoon commute & Sunday afternoon.
Weekdays, EB 4 btwn Martinez and Railroad Ave.
Weekday afternoon commute, EB I-580 between Castro Valley & Mountain House
Worst road pavement condition… I-880 between Berkeley and Union City
Nonstop buffoonery from this clown. Is it any wonder people from other States make fun of California when we have nimrods like this representing us?
I’ll also go with the 880 stretch from the 80/580/880 split past Hegenberger.
Next time, reverse the question and ask, what’s the best freeway to drive on in the East Bay, because they’re all bad. But some of my least favorites are the approach to the Bay Bridge, I-80 along the East Shore freeway in Emeryville and Albany, and I-580 in Pleasanton and Dublin during rush hour. I also want to add, any freeway that charges a toll. My gasoline and DMV taxes already paid for them.
All are horrible depending on time of day… decades of “deferred maintenance” make it look like we’re a third world country… but I’d say 80 between Richmond & Oakland has the record
Everyone should be required to wear a helmet and have a roll bar installed in their vehicle before being allowed to drive on hwy 4 anywhere inside of Contra Costa County.
All of them period complete crap!
I’d like to chime in to say “If you can even get to a highway driving any street in Concord without losing a crown, filling, or a full tooth, you’re doing very very well”
Southbound 680 from Bernal to Mission Blvd in the morning. Northbound 680 from 237 to 84 in the afternoon/evening. Hopefully they will finish the work on 680 sometime during my lifetime and it will help some. However, this is CalTrans…………..
