The following is from the Pleasant Hill Police Department:
Nice catch by our graveyard officers!
Last night our officers responded to Kohl’s to assist loss prevention employees in deterring a couple of shoplifters.
It was also determined that the suspects drove up in a stolen car.
As our officers went to contact the male suspect, he took off running and tried to hide and disguise his appearance. Unfortunately for him, he was quickly located in a business pretending to order a pizza.
He was identified as Jared Theobald of Vallejo, age 41.
Theobald was discovered to have a felony warrant as well and was in possession of a substantial amount of methamphetamine and heroin.
Officers scoured the area for a Nike bag Theobald was seen carrying earlier. It was eventually located dumped in a planter and contained a 9mm pistol loaded with hollow point rounds. Theobald was booked into county jail on multiple felonies. His female companion cooperated with officers and was eventually release from the scene.
We work closely with retail loss prevention, many times resulting in arrests for crimes that go beyond shoplifting. Good work by all involved!
Great job Pleasant Hill Police! I hope DA Becton charges Theobald for multiple felonies.
She won’t.
DON’T WORRY PH CITY ATTORNEY WILL PROSECUTE THEM.
FED UP I seriously doubt it.
I’m not aware of any city attorney in Contra Costa County where the District Attorney has grated permission to prosecute misdemeanor cases and permission is required pursuant to Government Code 41803.5.(a) nor has the City established a City Prosecutor pursuant to 72193 Government.
The City of Pleasant Hill’s own website list the role of the City of Pleasant Hill City Attorney as follows:
1)The City Attorney provides legal advice to the City Council, City Manager, City Commissions, and city staff.
2) The City Attorney also prepares and reviews ordinances, resolutions, contracts, and other official documents presented for City Council approval.
3) The City Attorney represents the City in litigation filed by or against the City and manages the City’s risk management (claims) functions.
No where does it mention criminal prosecution as one of the P Hill City Attorney’s responsibilities.
OHMyGosh how is this possible a stolen vehicle, felony warrant, drugs and a loaded firearm.
Aren’t criminals supposed to be on our streets after they promise to be good ? ? ?
An what skills does this wonderful person have, employers would be willing to pay up for ?

is to educate a menace to society.”

If there is no threat of incarceration,
there is no deterrence to criminal behavior
In this county do criminals fear what DA will do ? ? ? ?
Let plea bargaining to lesser charges commence.
DAs fear what criminals will do
Our D.A. will reduce and drop charges especially when it comes to people of color.
I’m sorry folks, but this is so true what Chris said! Our DA is racist
Once again, the same people who have killed my co workers, assaulted my mother during a robbery, build more prisons, make people fear punishment again , oh but it’s because they can’t find work, oh it’s because of systemic oppression righttttt
Wonderful Job to Pleasant Hill Police!!
Hopefully other Cities with follow suit a bit better.
Plus, things need to change, … keep these people locked up!
Can’t wait to vote out folks not doing their job to help citizens.
He’s probably been released already…
Way to go loss prevention employees!
It’s like you gave PHPD a Christmas present!
41 years old, I guess crime does pay. Hollow points, geez.
Does Kohl’s ever get a break? The police should just have a permanent presence there. Eventually they’ll just pack up and close. This guy probably has a record the size of a phone book too. Our DA will let him out and he’ll be back at it tomorrow. Just a bump in the road for him.
Heck, he’s probably already at home enjoying a stolen breakfast.
Good job LE! Becton, do your and stop the revolving door – can anybody check and see if he’s been released already? Multiple felonies here….
.
Criminal records like this and associated with this arrest, applied mote broadly, is why THE GENERAL PUBLIC DOES NOT TRUST GOVERNMENT.
.
High value targets. All of them.
I would have liked to watch the video of the criminal running into Pieology and then pretending to order a pizza like everything is cool.
LOL LOL LOL, That’s hilarious The Grant, I have a visual on that scenario, ha ha ha.
Now is time for our District Attorney to do her job.
I guess Dick’s got a break. That shopping center is going to suffer as people are too scared to visit.
It used to be a fun safe place to shop like Sun Valley once was in the 90’s … Thanks Newsom for condoning this behavior..
Who votes for these people running our lives? Does the crime supporting voter numbers really outweigh civilized society or are Democrats actually that stupid?
Dems are just that stupid. You cannot reason with a delusional person, and that is what they are. they live in an altered reality.
There is a way to start taking back our streets and state,
vote DEMs out of office at all levels of government ! ! !
