Concord Man Arrested For Murder In Antioch

Antioch detectives are investigating a homicide that occurred near railroad tracks in the city’s Los Medanos neighborhood over the weekend, police said Monday.

Approximately 4:30 p.m. Saturday, officers were alerted to a shooting near the railroad tracks in the 700 block of West First Street. Upon arrival on scene, they found a 29-year-old man suffering from a gunshot wound.

The victim was given first aid but when paramedics arrived a short time later, they pronounced him dead.

According to police, some people saw the suspect and the vehicle used by the perpetrator. Shortly after, Brentwood police saw the suspect vehicle in the 1200 block of Dainty Avenue. They were able to nab the suspect, who was identified as a 40-year-old Concord resident.

Authorities withheld the identities of the suspect and the victim. According to Antioch police, they will release information about the suspect at a later date, while the name of the deceased will be revealed when his family has been properly notified.
