The “Water Cooler” is a feature on Claycord.com where we ask you a question or provide a topic, and you talk about it.

The “Water Cooler” will be up Monday-Friday at noon.

In-N-Out opened their first restaurant in Idaho earlier this week, and the line for food was 6 hours long.

QUESTION: Would you ever wait 6 hours in line for food (in 36 degree weather), or do you think those people are nuts?

Talk about it.

No

No, there are better places to get a burger. I would wait for the novelty to go away.

No! …. plus, at 36 degrees!!, …. would go once the novelty calms down.
If I’m hungry/hangry, even 20 minutes is too long to wait.

When the Socialist complete the takeover we will all wait six plus hours for a loaf of stale bread, Comrade!

I was going to say the same exact thing! And give the democrats four more years and we will probably be at that point!

Like Badge, thought the same thing.

What exactly does the Democratic party have to do with In-N-Out burger? I heard the Independent party caused the last solar eclipse and the Republican party caused millions to loose their common sense.

They might be a little foolish, but I wouldn’t call them crazy, to each their own. Personally, I have never waited longer than 15 minutes for anything, and that includes sitting in the waiting room for a doctor or dentist appointment. After 15 minutes, I will tell them I’m leaving.
There isn’t anything I must have, or see just because it’s new, I can wait until the newness wears off, even if it takes a couple of years.

36 degree weather qualifies as nuts.
.
Ever come across one of those empty abandoned shopping cart in grocery store ?
Got to be a just little too much and they had to leave,
can sympathize with that person.

No. If the wait is longer than 30 minutes, forget about it cuz there are many alternatives.

I only ate at In-Out once and parked and went in to order and eat. just took a few minutes. But I wouldn’t wait for 6 hours. When Dutch Brothers opened here in Martinez (as well as weekends) there were people in their cars in a winding line in the parking lot. Add the cost of gas (or E) to that order. Now if I wanted to try the place today I would have parked and ordered.

“Bat crap crazy” “What is your life worth???” and the burgers are not special….they are good but not to wait for. Gourmet fast food…

No chance.

No.

.
I understand the hoopla but Im one to wait a few weeks. By that time, the staff will be fully trained and into relatively normal operations.
.
To me, “early adopters” are easily baited, intellectually shallow, and are there for the hype.
.

I think I’d rather wait a few days before getting in line.

Absolutely not.

No way…. they must have nothing else to do… too much time on their hands, etc.

Not my thing but to each their own

Just counted, 12 steps from recliner to refrigerator.

If we have to wait 6+ hours to offload a pt at a local hospital then why wouldn’t I wait for food that I really want to try?

Hell no, these people are desperate, or they’re suffering from FOMO. I blame social media. Eat enough of these burgers and you realize, What was I thinking?

I see things a bit different
Question really should be
Why on earth would anyone wait six hours for a hamburger?
I wouldn’t wait that long for a date with Selma Hayek

Wow…six hours for Selma Hayek? I’d have to think about that. Possibly for as long as six hours. 🫠

Makes one wonder? How did the pioneers ever manage to survive without inandout? Without McDonalds? Without Starbucks, without cell phones? and without cable TV???

I tried in-out three different times at three different locations back in the 90s. Tasted like cardboard. I couldn’t see what all the fuss was about. Haven’t been back there since.

Sometimes is not about the item, is about the process it takes to obtain it. I have done 2.5 hours in line just so that my daughter could collect a free toy, from the toy drive last week in concord. She picked a squishmallow that costs $8.00 at walgreens. But we gathered whole bunch of friends and it made the whole process fun!

No, I would not. I would not stand in line for 6 hours for anything other than a decent sum of money/valued item given for free.

I recently moved up to Idaho after living in Concord for almost 60 years. I was very excited to see In N Out come to our area … now if we could just have a Caspers move up here! haha! Anyhoo, friends of ours up here waited overnight in the drive thru line with four of their kids. They said it was fun, although the temps were in the 30s…yikes! But yes, I might wait in line that long for an In N Out burger since I haven’t had one in a while … it would be an experience and fun all at the same time if you had people with you. I heard it was pretty festive in the parking lot during the wait.

I’m going to have to wait a couple of years for an In-n-Out burger. They’re building a corporate hub here in the Nashville area and expect to have some restaurants open in 2026. In the meantime, Whattaburger is making a huge push into the area. We tried Whattaburger when we were passing through Texas, and I wasn’t impressed.

Probably not, but InNOut make an exceptional burger.
