The Claycord Online Museum – Winchell’s Donuts – Open 24 Hours

Who remembers Winchell’s Donuts?

They had donut shops all over the Bay Area, including Walnut Creek (Treat & Bancroft), Concord (Clayton Rd.), Pleasant Hill (Contra Costa Blvd.).

Winchell’s currently has no locations in Northern California, but they do have shops in six western states (mostly SoCal), Guam, Saipan, and Saudi Arabia.

I used to get donuts and other things there are the Bancroft/Treat store. Coffee at a locally run kiosk there which became yet another Starbucks. I think Winchell’s became a Dunkin’ Donuts and now an Allstar Donuts.

I think there was also one near the intersection of Oak Park Boulevard and Patterson Boulevard in Pleasant Hill.

You neglected to mention the Winchell’s Donuts on Oak Park Blvd. in Pleasant Hill

On Oak Park, behind where Safeway is now. Used to get early morning donuts there on our way to get Oakland Tribune newspapers to deliver, at the little shack about a block up from there.

I don’t think the Saipan store is still open, but the next nearest location is at 26-Macheche Road
Dededo, Guam.
