Feline hospice concluded.
Would like some suggestions on places to adopt rescue cat, and your experiences.
Best cat we ever adopted came from Antioch shelter, full grown mellow and loved everyone.

Hi OG.

Sorry to hear about your cat.

My wife’s and my last two cats were strays who came to visit and never left. My two previous cats before that were given to me by friends who couldn’t keep them any longer. Go into any shelter, and the cat will let you know. You’ll know and the cat will know.

Tough go OG, I’m sorry. You can’t ever replace them, not really. But letting a new one adopt and train you will have its rewards.

PetSmart on Willow Pass Rd has cats up for adoption at a very reasonable price. They have been spayed or neutered, had a complete physical by a vet, and all their shots. I’m not sure, but I think they may have also been microchipped.

Also, CC4C in Walnut Creek is a good place to find a cat or kitten.
The location in the little strip mall at Newell/Broadway, …near Dunkin Donuts.
As I’M NEW HERE mentioned, .. You’ll know and the cat will know.

Island Cat Rescue. I saw an article in the newspaper and called. They came to my house to check me out and matched me up with exactly the right cat who was about a year old, spayed and vaccinated. I donate to them every year because they do great rescue work. Ask about Maddie’s Fund.

Paws N Claws Senior Cat Rescue/Cafe is opening in Martinez after the 1st of the year. So if can wait you might want to check it out. FYI a cat is considered “senior” at 7 years of age

Thank You for the kind words and suggestions.
Can relate to being selected, this last one was at my work completely feral.
Co-worker would throw large bolts at it, lucky for her she hold up in a locked parts area.
Took a couple weeks leaving food then tossing kibble shorter distances until she’d eat from my hand.
Third week she’d visit when my shop door was open and curl up.
Brought her home, but she never took to the family.
14 good years and being meowed at and head butted in the nose at 4:30am ’cause kibble wasn’t good enough she had to have tuna.

Report on my first Panettone.
A yeast bread without sourdough starter.
Also, was a ‘Plain Jane’, no chestnuts, raisins or citrus.
Not light and airy, … more like a tall dense Brioche.
Taste is good and will be great for French Toast.
Going to find another recipe.

And the bartender says “We don’t serve time-travelers in here.” A time-traveler walks into a bar.

Roz, Sounds wonderful. When my exhusband and I bought our first house in Marin, I started to make my own bread. I had recipes from Gourmet magazines, others as well. I liked to experiement, and there is nothing as comforting as a warm slice of bread just out of the oven, with just butter on it.

When I lived on the kibbutz, the kitchen there made their own bread, it was kind of a sourdough rye. I remember coming back to the kibbutz at 9 am, after picking apples for 4 hours (we worked early before it got too hot, because coming from Denmark we were not use to the extreme heat). We would go into the kitchen, and there were the freshly baked bread. My favorite was the rye bread, with some of the kibbutz made cream cheese and their homemade peach marmelade. Not good for the wasteline, but was it wonderfu.

I just want to tell you both good luck, we’re all counting on you

“Looks like I picked the wrong week to quit sniffing glue.“

Pick One:
.
A) Peanut Brittle
B) Pralines
C) YUCK !

Can’t pick one, want both.

Close call, but B wins.

I agree with Roz! B wins.

@S
A) Peanut Brittle
With the exact amount of sweetness/saltiness and light enough so it won’t break your teeth. I know someone who makes their own and it’s as I described…..the best I’ve ever had.

See’s make good Peanut Brittle.

@Doh
I’ve never tried See’s but now I will……thanks, Doh.

C.

I do like both, but used to prefer pralines. Been a few years since I have had either, and my preference for chocolate has lessened a bit, but I think it would still be pralines.

“A”
My kid does a homemade with plenty of peanuts… YUM !

Peanut Brittle. But only if it comes from Boehms’ in WA. Crispy thin buttery brittle. It’s the best. The candy store that used be in the Broadway Plaza years ago had fabulous brittle as well that was made on-site.

B) Pralines. But I’m not entirely sure what they are. I haven’t eaten peanut brittle since I was like eight.

Definitely pralines. Not big on brittle and not big on Peanut butter as candy. I like crunchy peanut butter out of the jar, that’s about it.

@HANNE JEPPESEN….And if you live by yourself you can just scoop a bite with your fingers strait from the jar.

1st Saturday in December. Time for me to put the outside Christmas light up. Actually around on the fence since I can’t do ladders.

Tis the season to ponder…is the movie The Nightmare Before Christmas a Halloween or a Christmas movie?

SANCHO PANZA~
Kind of a mixture of both,… but it’s a Tim Burton movie, …so Christmas, … 🙂

Not a wonderful scene at the Martinez Waterfront Park as a fire at the Ozol yard backed up trains for more than an hour as well as traffic going out and into the park. The pedestrian bridge had a broken lock on the south side so people couldn’t use it until they were able to get it open again. What a mess! Freight trains are too darn long but the companies will argue they need to be. Of course this is a rare situation but they need to have at least an emergency plan to open pedestrian bridge quickly which is usually locked up do to homeless camping out on it.

Flaring @ chevron oil refinery, no injuries – headline news on all bay area news stations.
Flaring @ Martinez oil refinery, no injuries – headline news on all bay area news stations.
Fire @ marathon renewable fuel refinery, operator severely burned and in hospital – barely mentioned on news stations.
Give me a break. And please pray for operator fighting for his life in the hospital.

It appears insurance companies continue to engineer an escape from California.
The latest is to send a blurry picture of your roof taken by an airplane 1,000 feet up, claim the roof is in disrepair, and refuse to renew homeowner coverage unless repairs are made.
I sent them a paid receipt for the new roof installed five years ago. Not good enough. They want a copy of the work order also. OK, I sent the work order, “Are we good?” Well no, now it has to go to underwriting.
25 years without a claim and it has to go to underwriting?
Screw these guys; I’m changing carriers.
My roofing company, a substantial firm, said they are inundated with customers requesting receipt copies because their insurance companies are pulling the same stunt.
Insurance companies really want out of California.

However bad your day is going; you should still be thankful that you aren’t Florida State.

Man, that’s for sure, Cowellian. This is so unfair…….no losses and no play-offs? RIDICULOUS! They’ve got every right to be pissed. Not even sure how this can be rationalized.

Well, because we all know I’ve no claim to fame for baking… I saw this recipe for a 3 item bread:
3 1/2 cup Bisquick
1/4 cup backed dark brown sugar
12oz lager (I used a med dark)
mixed well, no need to rest
.
pre-heated oven 325
grease/flour bread pan
.
50 minutes in the oven….
.
I was very pleased, it is crumbly and good warn w/butter or to sop up the gravy.

Another armed robbery in Walnut Creek yesterday at North Main and Bonanza with pistol whipping.
It’s getting worse.

Fifty four years ago today was the Altamont concert, any Claycord posters go? My Dad put the kibosh on my attendence and I wasn’t quite old enough to “rebel” at that point.

Nytemuvr — My sister went. She had front-row, standing room only stage view of the whole bloody ordeal. She said Stones didn’t have control of the stage, and Hell’s Angels were ok’d as the defacto “security detail” per the Stones approval. She said it was pure chaos.

If I could buy Taylor Swift stock, I would.
I figured out my favorite season is the next one. Whatever the next one is.
Some lady farted as I passed her at the Goodwill last weekend. I know she saw me, what’s the message here, self defense of some kind? Or some kind of weird mating thing?
I’m done voting or caring who wins. Enough of that.
The day I retire, I stop paying life insurance premiums, wanna get paid kids, here’s the bill.
There’s such thing as ‘bar wives’. You probably have met a few. Hopefully no relation.
I like fog, the heavier the better.
