Concord police and the California Highway Patrol joined forces over the weekend, launching an anti-retail theft operation that led to 13 arrests and several thousand dollars of merchandise recovered.

Police said one of the suspects arrested was wanted for a 2021 vehicular manslaughter in another jurisdiction.

Cases are on their way to the district attorney’s office for prosecution, said police, and they plan on doing similar operations in the near future.

Police reminded the public not to leave valuables inside their cars, pay attention to their surroundings, and report suspicious activity.

Now that the CHP & CPD are doing a great job let see if our liberal DA can do hers. I doubt it.

I doubt our DA will do anything too.
Come on, one of the bandits was wanted for manslaughter- and he was running around doing more crime. I’m sure all the others have been let go before for shoplifting just to continue their business. Will probably be the same this time. I have little faith in these liberal democrats.

Good job, but does this mean tomorrow? “and they plan on doing similar operations in the near future” What are we talking about here?

Unless there’s FELONY charges, given current laws, why bother to arrest ? ? ?
.
Hmmm, could it be there’s an election coming up ? ? ?
Great motivator of politicians is FEAR of not getting enough votes ! !
.
DEM governance got us to this point and
only way to correct problems is to not elect DEMs.

Finally! I’ll bet they can find other crimes to charge them with, in addition to the vehicular manslaughter. Good work! Now if the DA will just keep them locked up.

“Cases are on their way to the District Attorney’s Office.” So it looks like reduced and dismissed charges will be handed out because we all know these are non-violent crimes and those arrested impact people of color the most.

It seems odd that the PD won’t even identify the person arrested on an outstanding warrant for vehicular manslaughter. “We arrested some people somewhere, and that’s all you need to know.

Can people committing organized retail theft(crime) be charged using RICO laws?
To me, it seems the the answer would be yes, but I’m not a lawyer.

A Message from Diana Becton

Diana Becton, District Attorney

Sure, whatever this statement says.
This D.A must believe in The Grinch story. The part where the Grinch became overwhelmed with guilt and decided to return all the gifts and celebrate with those who he stole from.
Criminals should fear consequences but, unfortunately, that isn’t the case.

Rottweiler’s, rubber bullets, and batons. I advocate, all of these to create remedial justice to discourage shoplifting.

nytemuvr November 8, 2023 - 10:41 AM - 10:41 AM

@AMERICAN CITIZEN….Water cannons and tasers make for good video entertainment too.
