More than 500 dialysis caregivers will strike Monday and Tuesday over what they call unfair labor practices at nearly two dozen Satellite Healthcare and Fresenius Kidney Care clinics across California, including ones in Gilroy, San Jose, and Brentwood.
Registered nurses, patient care technicians, social workers, hemodialysis technicians, and other caregivers who provide weekly dialysis treatments said in a press release management is putting staff and patients at risk to increase profits while violating their rights.
Licensed vocational nurses, certified clinical hemodialysis technicians, dietitians, social workers, clinical administrative coordinators, and receptionists will also be on strike Monday and Tuesday.

Unionized by the purple people beaters I believe. There is always talk about the rising cost of healthcare, here is one aspect that leads to increased costs. The cost to keep all these workers satisfied increases, leading to an increase in the cost of the procedures to patients/insurance carriers, which leads to increase in insurance premiums. What is not provided (not that I tried to seek it out) is what is “unfair,” how are the caregivers put “at risk” and what rights are being violated? No sympathy from me without any understanding of what they are trying to get.

Uh oh. A lot of people depend on dialysis every week. Unions are so toxic, I never cease to be amazed by what they are capable of doing. Especially their donations to liberal politicians.
They shouldn’t be legally allowed to strike without any provision to perform their work in their absence, Ridiculous.

Always find it amusing unions never seem to learn that the same Dem politicians they endorse and donate to are the ones dangling the “living wage” carrot higher and higher with their economic policies.
From the sounds of these comments these People/Jobs must be pretty important and they should be compensated for the important job they do. People that work in healthcare deal with people dying on their shift and the sadness of people who are very sick or whose lives depend on them. I look at society and see a lot of over compensated people. A certified nursing assistant who cleans your barf and wipes your butt and takes care of you when you can’t makes about the same as a cashier at McDonald’s. Shame on the companies that didn’t pay these people enough in the first place!
Agreed, paid for what they are worth. If they think they are worth more than they are getting paid, and the company disagrees, seek a different employer. However, in the write up, they are striking because of unexplained unfair work practices that are violating their rights, and putting them at risk… that description does not instill sympathy from me.

Honestly, both are unskilled jobs. Yes, the NAs in hospitals are cleaning up barf. But, anyone can clean up barf. If people wat more money, they need a valued skillset. Cleaning up barf is something a 6-year-old can do. It might be hard, but there is no skill there. Same for burger flippers. As for the folks doing dialysis? Well, there is not a lot of work there.

Why would you work there if the pay wasn’t fair? “curious” You are obviously talented so go sell your skill to someone else that will appreciate you. That was the whole point of the vote wasn’t it… More profits? not having to have doctors present. Prop 29″s tag line was “if you vote no you will be denying dialysis patients access to proper care” now you are threatening the same thing. WTF?????
