We go downtown for lunch or dinner at least every month. The last time was at Troy.
.
We like the quiet, unpretentious environment of Downtown Martinez (versus Walnut Creek).
.
Parking is not even competitive… BONUS!

Parking is sheer insanity. Everywhere one-way streets and no parking lots. The only time I ever go there is to drop my wife off at the Amtrak. Way better off just going to a mall and parking there.

We went to Taco Daddy’s on Tuesday for happy hour, they have a killer happy hour menu!
Seeing that picture makes me ask Did they ever open that staircase and bridge to the station. The gate looks locked

Del Cielo Brewing in downtown Martinez has excellent food. Cubanos, vegetarian tacos, salmon tacos, etc. Very good. Some great beer and non-beer options also.

Been maybe seven years or so when last called for jury duty. I really should go there again, wherever I went for food was good. Picked up an underpriced silver dollar at an antique store.

Last time we went we went to Slow Hand BBQ. We have also eaten at and enjoyed Roxx’s. Both places have live music which is a plus.

Last time was in May. I was there to take care of a little business. It was such a nice day, that I parked in the lot across from the RR tracks and walked to where I was going. After I took care of business, I walked around for a while enjoying the day, and downtown Martinez.
Much of downtown parking is 2 hour meters, plenty for going for lunch dining. There are some parts of streets with long meters for jurors. There has an been ongoing spat between the city and the county over a needed juror parking facility but I’ve been told county thinks the city should build and pay for it.

Last time I ate in Martinez was during jury duty in March! It was at a very nice little Chinese restaurants located the block before the train station. Actually thanks for this reminder, maybe we’ll go there this weekend. It is a quaint little town that seems locked in a bygone era and still running at a very slow pace what

If you haven’t dined in Martinez lately, check it out: Great Thai, Chinese, BBQ, Mexican, Italian, Greek, etc. (There’s even a new oyster bar.) And a lot of GREAT live music on Friday and Saturday evenings.

When we first moved to California, I wasn’t interested in living in Martinez because I was concerned about the refineries. But later, I really enjoyed working in downtown Martinez. Everything was within walking distance, including a number of enjoyable restaurants. My favorite lunch spot was Victoria’s Cafe/DiMaggio’s Fine Foods, but our last Martinez restaurant was Creek Monkey.

My sister who visits once a year from Chicago loves Martinez. She is an antique lover. We like Troy, Lemongrass and Ginger Thai. Also, love walking the marina and wildlife preserve. Never had a problem with parking. We don’t look for downtown. We go to the side streets like Castro by St. Catherine’s. A couple of extra blocks to walk, but walking is part of the whole idea.
