I wonder if the SF leadership got the message Nordstrom and others are sending?

27

Since the “leadership” in SF mostly caused the issues, it would take an admission
of failure to turn things toward normal. Not gonna happen.

Rich,
No one could possibly be that stupid, everything is going according to the plan. Watch to see who profits the most in the end.

I doubt it, Rich. Just like Oakland, they are so entrenched in their liberal dogmas, if they cannot see that it’s not working, nor would they ever admit it. San Francisco’s a lot more trouble than people realize. Office Buildings, hotels, are being returned to the banks in quiet foreclosures.. and now shopping centers are following. Come on, who wants to shop there when you have to step over excrement, urin on the sidewalks.. be yelled at by lunatics, and have your car broken into or your person assaulted.

I’ve been looking for a certain item and no stores in the Bay Area have it except one in S.F.
Told them unless they can ship or meet me on the other side of the bridge, I’m not going over there to get it.
They can’t / won’t,… lost sale.

Old news. It’s because a certain group of people are ghetto thugs. And the cops can’t police them properly. It used to be if you died while in the process of committing a crime it’s your fault. Now it’s if the cop had the right to use lethal force and the color of your skin. It’s the group of people Chris Rock doesn’t like…

@Ron,
They do not have a clue. SF is going in the toilet and they don’t have the b#lls to do anything for fear of hurting someone’s feelings. Amnesty city be damned?

An of course DEMs don’t have no clue.

I love the useless Mayor Breed’s response to all these places closing down and leaving the city. She actually had the audacity to say it’s due in part to the shopping habits of people are changing and going on line more to purchase what they want. It’s certainly not theft, safety concerns, and crazy homeless running all around.

breed is married to a billionaire’s son. She doesn’t give a rat’s butt because her future is secure. Sadly.
Also, she knows her voters/supporters are dumb enough to believe just about anything a liberal tells them.
Case in point, see the V.I.’s post below.

Oh, surprise!

Not a problem according to the party of failure, destruction and disaster – The Democrats.
They are probably all just following in Garvens Newscums footsteps.

.
Nordstrom’s closure is the direct result of liberal laws, liberal policies, ineffective leadership, and the utter FAILURE of its residents and voters to demand a high level of civil standards.
.
SF is now known for general lawlessness, rampant crime, open-air drug dealing, the stench of urine, and piles of human feces on the streets and sidewalk.
.
A “World Class” city?… not since the early 90s.

Nordstrom has been going downhill for a long time Poor hiring, Bad buyers and way roo expensive.
The message is people don’iy want to pay high prices anymore and most cannot.
Walnut Creek is next if they don’t wake up.
Even the Cafe is bad now.
Adios!

I haven’t bought anything at Nordstrom’s for years. Not surprisingly since I work at Macy’s and get an employee discount. Also since I spend most of my time in a store, I have little interest in going to other stores when I’m off. I much prefer to be out in nature or spend time with friends. I do occassionally check out Nordstrom’s Rack, since it is close to my work. I bought some nice cardigans and tops at Nordstrom’s Rack on the Peninsula when I moved back there in 2010. Have bought a few things from Nordstrom’s Rack here in Concord, but not the past couple of years. As far as I can tell years ago Nordstrom’s Rack had better clothing and choices. Even years ago mid 2000’s I found that they didn’t have the versatility they use to have. So the store closing in San Francisco could be a combination of issues. I don’t discount the stealing and unpleasant surroundings, but could also be that the merchandise is not what it use to be. Peeople’s taste change. I can’t be the only former customer who felt disappointed in their selection and prices.

There are thirteen i’s in this one.
A one-paragraph post about cities a few days ago had 20.
Isn’t difficult to figure out why. But it sure is fun.

I like Nordstrom, however I agree with you that their quality has gone down in recent years. They tried to buddy up with the woke mob and got kicked in the teeth by them instead. Maybe they’ll realize who their loyal customers are and go back to directing their services towards them. Y’know, the ones who actually pay for the merchandise they take out of the store. I hope the Walnut Creek location doesn’t close. I still enjoy shopping there and lunch at the cafe – their tomato soup is the best!

Close them all till newscum wakes up. Tried to buy a circuit breaker today all locked up the employee had to walk up to register to buy it. Enjoy what you created libs.

What took Nordies so long?

Last time I went to SF I stepped in human feces…. That was my last straw… Also a year ago when I went a homeless man threw garbage at me. I just can’t stand that dumpster fire of a city!

All the closures, no employees showing up to the large office buildings, ghost town situation. The tax revenue dries up and the city will declare bankruptcy. China will buy it, put a big fence around it and make it a play ground for the Chinese elite.

About 24% of the City’s population are Chinese. The Chinese have been buying property in the City for quite some time. Not including Chinatown, the Sunset, Portola, and Richmond districts are predominately Chinese. They have also been buying property in Silicon Valley, especially in Cupertino, Milpitas, and Fremont.

Nordstrom has been closing numerous stores across the US in the last few years. That includes the MAGA Republican states of Florida and Texas. Let’s be real, economics, not liberal Dems, is the driving force of these closures.

What’s influencing and driving the bad ‘economics’?

Bidenomics!!!

Exactly!

Let’s be honest…the downsizing of of retail storefronts is nothing new. It was happening with Trump. It’s a reality of a changing retail landscape. People don’t go to malls, or especially downtown to shop in large department stores any more. The internet is killing traditional retail. Businesses and cities need to adapt of face the consequences.

Don’t forget being assaulted and robbed.
If you drive, being carjacked, vehicle stolen or broken into. .
CA is where criminals are on our streets and have little to fear when it comes to incarceration with woke revolving door jails.

… ok who is surprised? raise your hand… anybody? no? I’m not either… more to follow…. degradation started when Newscum was mayor… will continue until there is any kind of leadership instead of this lenient progressive political “stuff”

I have not been to SF in years. Reminds me of something out of a John Carpenter film.

Dreamforce could be next. As much of an annoyance as this is (I used to work right off of Union Square), the Salesforce conference brought in a ton of revenue.

Businesses are leaving San Francisco. I walked from Fisherman’s Wharf down Grant and along Market Street. I wrote a song and made a video of what I saw. It wasn’t pretty. https://youtu.be/aQx_b6DuOco?si=–rXV9DMxepwjYCy

So is Nordstrom the Fry’s of Seattle? Yah? I lived in Seattle in the 1960s-1980s and even played a gig or two for the Nordstrom family events. The days of creating empires may be coming to a close.

Last time I was in SF was 4 years ago for a Box conference at Moscone Center. Got off of bart and about threw up it smelled so bad. Have not been back since.

Instead of ranting daily about failed policies, why not use this community to talk about your ideas.

The situation in SF sucks and I agree with some of you, but what are you going to do with the homeless? Are you going to call for more temporary housing? Are you going to ask for wages to raise, which in a sense will lead to an increase in prices?

SF is going to be led by a DEM for a while, just as most major cities are. So what solutions should there be? Arrest them all and put them in jail?

5
3

The last Republican mayor left office in San Francisco in 1964.

Ideas?

Here you go:

1. Enforce all laws. What a concept!
.
2. Prosecute crime to the maximum extent allowed by law.
.
3. Dismantle homeless encampments. If the dont accept assistance, then they nees to move on.
.
4. Reduce homeless and/or funding. Dependence is only being perpetuated by city govt and nonprofits.
.
5. Enforce community health standards and sanitation. Clean those streets and sidewalks.
.
6. Prohibit and enforce loitering laws
.
7. Enforce Federal drug laws. No “safe injection” sites.
.
8. Drug dealer sweeps. Zero tolerance. No plea bargains.
.

19

Well it was called “Market” street for a reason now maybe “Vacant” street?

Newsom blames federal judges for the homeless problem. It’s always someone else’s fault.

11

only a poor craftsman blames his tools

10

It is a controlled systematic destruction of property values so the lower classes can purchase the heavily discounted real estate. They are creating a classless society.

.
“Classless” as in socialism or communism (at least in theory).
.

The brilliant liberal Democrat San Francisco government has it all figured out. They will house the illegal aliens, homeless, bums, drug addicts, criminals and all the others that they truly care about in vacant buildings.

@ ANGRY AMERICAN , I agree as a craftsman I am so sorry high schools no longer have shops

Agreed. IMHO learning to make things and use tools was a benefit. However, critical thinking skills were the real lesson. Secondarily, they built the confidence to take on complex projects and succeed even beyond initial capabilities.

You can all thank Gavin Newsom for the brginning of the demise when he was with Guilfoyle drinking around town and thank you London Breed for not taking action sooner.
Gavin would rather xpruce up San Quentin than SF. Vote him OUT!
