Dawnell is a good kid, just unlucky. Wish him the best

Sorry… I’m getting tired of hearing about how all these kids are ‘good kids’ when they’re really rotten and hurting other people.

Unlucky that they found the gun, or unlucky that he had the gun in the first place? Dawnell may be a good kid, but he’s not very smart.
And please stop making excuses for obvious criminals.

CPD is Lying !
Convicted Felons CAN NOT have GUNS !
There is a LAW !!!

What you and others appear not to understand is without the law there is nothing that can be done. However, with the law the felon can be arrested, charged and suffer the penalties.

But even with the law, the District Attorney’s office can totally ignore it and go her own way. So I’m beginning to think what’s the use!

Was it a “machine gun”?
Too bad they aren’t this thorough when a politician gets pulled over!!!

Good job CPD! …but why no name release? pictures? …..no surprise huh? .. where’s the transparency? Thanks though….

As you can plainly see, convicted felons all buy their guns at legal FFL dealers, pass a test, pass a background check, wait 10 days for their weapon, then pass another background check for ammunition, and the always use legal 10-round magazines.

Cali gun laws are working! Oh, has the DA let him out, returned his gun and paid him for his time?

Oh come on people we have the best D.A.s money can buy and a governor who couldn’t care less until the cameras are on him.

New normal in CA, where criminals are on our streets instead of incarcerated.
Too bad felon with a gun isn’t an automatic 10 years, but this is CoCo county home of plea bargains, probation and short sentences.
.
If there is no threat of incarceration,
there is no deterrence to criminal behavior

Looks like search and seizure to me… Good job CPD!.
S&S is only used on known cr@p heads, normal citizens need not worry.

Put him in the chair and be done with it for good

If there isn’t robust enforcement … laws mean zilch.

That dashboard gun compartment photo should go viral. It’s really quite chilling.
A perfect illustration of how dangerous law enforcement has become. With every traffic stop they have to be prepared for something like this. CCC has really taken a turn for the worse.

.
CA’s “common sense” restrictive gun laws and lenient justice system are working great!
.
(Sarcasm intended).

I’m thinking whatever was covering that hole in the dash had to be quote obvious in order for LE to search. Would love to see the before picture.

Can LE site probable cause based on the driver’s prior record or was he/she/other non-cooperative or belligerent?

Anybody experts care to weigh in here?

Probable cause is unnecessary if they were given permission to search.

Probable cause is also unnecessary if they are on parole or probation, and the cops may have used a dog to sniff out the gun.

The driver can consent to a search although in this case he/she was probably on parole.

The only thing the cops tell him is give me 3 and I set you free!
