One person was arrested during a DUI checkpoint at Clayton Rd. and Ayers Rd. in Concord on Friday night.

Checkpoint locations are based on a history of crashes and DUI arrests, police said.

Funding for this checkpoint was provided by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety, through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

I remember when “Concord’s Finest’ would sit outside the Starlite Room at last call and wait to see who wobbled away on their bike. If you weren’t sure if you could ride a straight line we just walked to IHOP.
