A Sacramento woman has been charged for possessing a machine gun during an alleged theft in Walnut Creek last month.
Romajane Hill, 19, is out on bail after Walnut Creek police arrested her and two other females July 27. Police were called at approximately 1:30 p.m. to a report of a theft in progress in the 1200 block of Broadway Plaza.
Officers detained three females and allegedly found Hill in possession of a stolen handgun.
Police said the gun was modified from a semi-automatic pistol to a fully automatic pistol, and also had a 30-round extended magazine.
Hill was arrested and booked into the Martinez Detention Facility on suspicion of possessing of a machine gun, possession of a large capacity magazine, carrying a loaded firearm on one’s person, and concealing a firearm on one’s person.
Police said the Contra Costa County District Attorney’s Office has charged Hill, and that she currently out on bail.

Let me get this straight: a concealed stolen gun, modified into a fully automatic, large magazine. No, there’s no threat here; let her go on bail. And at least half of the voters in this county apparently agree, as they voted for this DA. Beam me up, there’s not enough intelligent life in this county.

You’re surprised that she got out on bail!? Ha! I’m more surprised that she received it. Let’s not forget about bail reform and how it benefits criminals.
Most likely it is a glock 17 or 19 with the “giggle switch.” That is a gizmo that replaces the slide endplate with an assembly that automatically trips the striker after the slide goes back into battery, rendering the previously legal, semi auto pistol a machine gun. A bunch were imported from China and sold online, and now there are 3d printed ones available for download.
The 30 rounders are not illegal to possess. They would have to prove she obtained it illegally before possession is a crime. The “high capacity” magazine ban was overturned by judge Benitez, then he stayed that pending appeal, while specifically allowing possession until the case is fully resolved. The whole ban is likely to be overturned if it reaches SCOTUS based in the Bruen decision.
Honestly, the full auto conversion makes her less likely to hit anything if she fires it. They are fun but pretty useless.
Not saying she shouldn’t still be in the can for being a waste of skin and drain on society, just adding some deeper background info on the subject.

Anybody in possession of a fully automatic weapon while committing a crime has the mindset to mow down a lot of people that will get in their way. They are a danger to the public, and should remain behind bars. On the bright side, it’s good to know that California’s strict gun laws are keeping “weapons of war” out of the hands of criminals.

You do realize the right to bail is specified in the 8th Amendment of the Constitution? You know the “Bill of Rights”?
It is not the DA nor the Sheriff’s fault that the defendant bailed. It is how the jurisprudence of the United States works.
it is 100% the fault of the DA that she made bail. The DA sets the amount. Set it a $500,000 so she cant get out. Bail is supposed to reflect the seriousness of the crime.
